WHEN RAIN COMES........!

WHEN RAIN COMES........!

Oh! Soon after the sultry, scorching and sweltering summer,
Comes dancing the rejoicing and rejuvenating monsoon shower,
To infuse life in the singeing soil, and thirsty mountains, trees and grass,
And induce the newly weds to drench themselves merrily and splash!

Oh! No sooner does descend on the earth the soul soothing rain,
Than the dry, arid and humid Nature puts on Her attires deep green!
Ah! All the creatures do forget their acute their sweating and suffocating pains,
As overflow above their brims the rivers, dams, ponds, rivulets, pools and drains!

Lo! Smiles blossom on every peasant’s happy and hilarious faces,
In every nook and corner all wear their water-proof joy dresses!
The leaking thatches are patched, and dripping roofs are repaired fast,
The office goers as well as the fishermen stay updated with the weather forecast!

Nature enjoys the gigantic frogs’ high pitched beguls and recitations,
Peacocks romp, revel and romance with the pitter patter symphony of rain,
We observe with devotion and fervour uncountable festive celebrations
Yes, a light drizzle proves a boon, while a deadly deluge proves to be a bad bane!

The hesitant old and the new pupils get up early not to be late for school,
Some with reluctance, and some with joy  complete their homework full,
Some of them feel It a sacred Temple; while  some others loathe it as an ugly jail,
Alas! The homesick ones restlessly watch out for the school closing bell!

Umbrellas of varied fabrics and hues are canopied over the human heads,
Water soaks, drips and percolates through the poor, worn and unsafe sheds,
Greens, vegetables, and fish  of myriad sorts everywhere abundantly avail,
Oh! The towering bellows of beatitude, all over the earth, do blissfully prevail!

But, Alas! Sometimes Lord Indra’s furious, formidable and excruciating missiles,
Breed fright and chaos; send shivering jitters and cause unthinkable havoc,
Flash floods, storms and cyclones ruin normalcy, and snatch away man's smiles,
As the disconsolate and woeful disruptions  rule, life turns dolorous in this bivouac!

All the same, rain is never ever unwanted, uncalled for or unwelcome.
Despite a sea terrible terror and smiting sorrow, rain has its lasting charm;
For, life learns to face the natural calamities and move on; thus the earth survives,
Yes, rain's magnitude of magnanimity is invaluable, and past any price!
