MY CONCEPT OF HEAVEN

MY CONCEPT OF HEAVEN

Some find a heaven in a sound health,
Some in abundant wealth,
Some in a dazzling dome,
And some others in a humble home!

Some find a heaven in a renowned reward,
Some in a kind and soothing word,
Some in a pretty and alluring face,
And some others in life's honest Race!

Alas! Some find a heaven in hurting innocent hearts,
Some in playing ugly and ignoble parts,
Some in marring others' sweet Mirth,
And some others in aborting a legitimate birth!

But, I find my heaven in the wellbeing of all,
In everyone's rise, and in no one's fall,
In turning others' tears into pearly joy drops,
And in cultivating and reaping my own Destiny's Crops!

A TRIBUTE TO A TRUE TEACHER

A TRIBUTE TO A TRUE TEACHER

Thou art the Gleaming Glitter of the gloomy earth,
The Bright Dispeller of the dark, ignorant path!
The Sun illuminates us with His sheer coruscation,
Thou dost enlighten with Thy rare, reviving erudition!

Thou art the Generator of all noble Thoughts,
The Equator of all of our guileless guts,
The Anchor-sheet behind every success,
The Catalyst of the huge, global race,
The Harbinger of the perennial Peace,
The Endower of the perpetual Bliss,
The Redeemer of all the learners,
Ah! Beside God Thou art in the slash!

To glorify Thee who render us unpayable betters
In my mundane lexicon prevails an acute paucity of letters!

N.B. Each letter of TEACHER has been illustrated in the second stanza of the poem.

A FAKE FRIEND

A FAKE FRIEND

A fake friend ever unsuspectingly creeps up to pretend,
Under the noble skin of a reliable friend, a felonious fiend!
Oh! He does successfully his evil motives camouflage,
To fiddle and swindle, sticks on his face a fake badge!

Under the fake robe of friendship and reciprocation,
He counts his own chickens piling selfish acquisition!
He builds and erects for you reverie castles in the air,
He dupes as a Venus flytrap in his unobtrusive snare!

He feeds you full with many husky, illusory promises,
He assures you to fetch the Moon at night’s recess!
To pluck you the Sun, after day recedes and retreats,
With million, gullible pretexts, he later you greets!

But, little does he know: “Truth always prevails at last,
The fake and the pseudo perish, like bubbles, fast!"

* fiend – an evil or cruel person * felonious - antisocial
* fiddle - deceive * swindle – cheat
* Venus flytrap - a plant that feeds on insects and catches them by quickly closing its leaves when their surface is touched so that the insects cannot escape

OH! WITHOUT WATER!

OH! WITHOUT WATER!

Oh! The matter of water, forever, most solemnly and seriously matters,
For, without it, most painfully and profusely empty will be the dish platters,
Will accompany then pitiable hunger cacophonies and sad clatters,
And will, ultimately, invite most unwelcome starvation slogans and biting blatters!

Oh! Without water, lives on the Earth will surely and sorely fall flatter,
Death will loom ominously and menacingly like a fearsome fly swatter!
Ah! Joy will wince and wriggle, making survival of all sour and bitter,
Alas! Our Self -wrought adversity, like a cruel cutter, will relentlessly batter!

Oh! Without water, the flowers of Mirth and blithe will instantly fade and dry,
The fruits of comfort, cleanliness and enjoyment will soon fall down and die!
Once the heavenly haven of plenitude and abundance will the castles of the Sky,
And all living organisms will bid to the Earth an untimely and unwelcome Bye!

Alas! Thus it is high time; all humans loved and saved waters
Before unmindful, wanton follies tear all lives to innumerable tatters!

*platters – large flat dishes or plates for serving food
*blatter –repeated and noisy strikes
* wince – make a slight involuntary grimace or shrinking movement of the body out of pain or distress

N.B. : 22 March is celebrated as the World Water Day.

WHEN DOES GOD BLESS ONE TO BE IMMORTAL?

WHEN DOES GOD BLESS ONE TO BE IMMORTAL?

When one’s ultimate Motto becomes one’s only selfless service,
When one willingly showers for the deprived benevolence lavish,
While helping the destitute one is neither churlish nor peevish;
God never lets any devilish force his inimitable Zeal impoverish!

When happiness of the masses becomes one’s life’s only Mission,
When one is eager enough to shoulder public strain and tension,
When sheds one sweats for the hungry and starving’s daily ration;
One becomes a Messiah for the building of a new World-Nation!

When one becomes an Engine for the people’s problem Trains,
When one turns a carriage for the commoners’ pressing burdens,
When, for the emancipation of the needy, one sinks and drinks pains;
One verily becomes foolproof for all sorts of recurring and rigid stains!

When lives one solely for the smooth and easy lives of the whole Races,
When, for the sweet smiles of others, one bitter hardships embraces,
When unhesitatingly  bleeds one, for the hapless men’s legitimate cases;
To make one Immortal, God, the Omnipotent, magnanimously blesses!

A POET

HAPPY WORLD POETRY DAY!

A POET

Oh! A perceptive, sensitive and imaginative poet
Can travel at an unthinkable and immeasurable rate,
Can see the dancing, joyous flowers in the captivating heaven,
Can gather precious pearls at the fathomless bottom of the ocean!

He can have the access to the impregnable bowel of the Earth,
Can relish the taste of the tantalizing Death and blissful Birth,
Can suck the sugared, mouthwatering nectar as the busy bees,
Can blow across the universe faster than the omnipresent breeze!

He can play with the huge fatal whales and the gigantic lethal sharks,
Can fly with the jets and sing with the cuckoos, nightingales and larks,
Can jump onto the shiny, silvery and serene bosom of the Moon,
Can clasp the burning and blazing Sun in a twinkling of an eye soon!

He can swim swifter than the boats and steamers against currents,
Can inhale the rejoicing and fragrant flowers’ spell-binding scents,
Can easily set fire on the incombustible water, stone and feelings,
Can excel any worldly goldsmith in moulding the bejeweled rings!

He can rule over the invincible kings, emperors and monarchs,
Can pace like invisible, intangible Time in the impenetrable dark,
Can meticulously convert a dry desert into a green, fertile oasis,
Can build in the space a lofty mansion of peace, mirth and bliss!

He can glide and slide on the shivering ice-berg without getting cold,
Can scale the sky kissing peak of Mount Everest with no rope to hold,
Can swing without swings wherever and whenever he wishes,
Can catch a deadly cobra and caress even if it scarily hisses!

He can lick venom and swallow hemlock without being dead,
Can suck ambrosia from the sweet, soft blossom’s honey head,
Can tumble down with the falling showers without getting hurt,
Can visualize a prolonged war that was in the long past fought!

Who else can wreathe the richest garlands with magical alphabet,
Who can surpass the excellence of an ever adorable poet,
Who can undermine the expertise of an appreciable poet,
Who can retain the enviable quality of an inimitable poet?

Who can belittle the special flare of a praiseworthy poet,
Who can underestimate the knack of a marvellous poet,
Who can transcend the power of a proficient poet,
Who can retain the unique genius of an adept poet?

Who can wield the pen as poignantly as a skilled poet,
Who can turn down the potential of an adroit poet,
Who can retain the vision of gifted, visionary poet,
Who is in the world as great as a miraculous poet?

Oh! The shine of thy luscious look,
Supersedes soon a sprightly and sparkling brook!
The captivating hue of thy cherry lips,

THREE REQUESTS FOR MY BELOVED!

THREE REQUESTS FOR MY BELOVED!

O my dear Birds! Will you kindly lend me your flying wings,
So that I can reach out to my shy beloved, who ever swings,
In my life’s spacious sky of an infinite and pristine Love;

O my dear Friends! I must oblige myself paying you seas of gratitude,

BETRAYAL

BETRAYAL

Betrayal is a treacherous, lethal snake-bite from the back,
Until stinging, it keeps the vulnerable prey in the fatal dark.
Its deadly teeth are sharper than those of a giant shark.
Once caught in its mortal grip, it’s too tough to inch back!

Betrayal keeps the prey under susceptible infatuation,
It casts on him an unwary, alluring, hypnotic fascination,
It clamps its viciously entrancing, enticing stamp on him,
Until his last breath, it enthralls him with a sham charm!

The portrayal of betrayal is tedious, tiresome and tough,
Cheaters adorn themselves with this hideous slough.
They hoodwink the innocent by their hallucinatory game.
Oh! They are devoid of scruple, pity, humanity and shame!

Hark! To keep yourselves immune to this baneful betrayal,
You must neither be credulous nor be easily gullible.
You must stop thinking that all types of oil are edible,
You must learn to be more mature, sensible and practical.

The betrayers must be timely picked and duly pricked,
They must be taught an unforgettable and lasting lesson,
They must be chastised for a revived and refined incarnation,
To protect the innocuous from being perfidiously kicked.

* chastised –punished  * innocuous – innocent * perfidiously - falsely

THE WISHES OF MY HEART

THE WISHES OF MY HEART

O God! Let the thirst quenching Tube-well of my heart
Keep pumping out the water of pure love and selfless service,
That may be sweetly sipped and gladly drunk in many a draught,
That may be considered more useful than Jacob’s Golden Fleece!

O God! Let the generous Heaven of my heart
Keep raining copiously the showers of Mercy past calculation,
Only on the disadvantaged and deprived lives’ unprivileged desert,
To witness soon a curious growth of happy and luxuriant vegetation!

O God! Let the magnanimous heart of my Kalpavriksha
Keep granting the long unfulfilled wishes of the whole mankind,
As a benevolent Agent of God, fetch seas of smiles for all to find,
Blessing only the Upright and the Virtuous with sweet Moksha!

O God! Let the bottomless heart of my fathomless Fountain,
Keep sprinkling an endless joy for all to treasure and contain,
To forget forever the bitter bites of poverty, hardship and sorrow,
To march ahead with a torch of hope for a much better tomorrow!

WHEN WILL STOP THE VIOLATION OF A LADY'S MODESTY?

WHEN WILL STOP THE VIOLATION OF A LADY’S MODESTY?

Alas! Violation of a lady’s invaluable modesty,
Is more violent than dreadful, virulent violence.
Toying with a lady’s much treasured dignity,
Is most inhuman, bestial, brutish and non-sense.

Alas! Violation kills an innocent lady’s chastity,
It suffocates her, stabs at her much valued purity.
It turns her life an unending curse, burns her alive.
Ah! Lust’s wanton prey chars her unique Virginity Hive!

She bears deep, incurable wounds until her last breath,
In her prime of life she prefers a much relieving death!
Lo! The carnal predators ever prowl and growl at large,
Her yearning for Justice is worse than a peevish mirage!

Then, how long will continue this cruel waspish practice?
How long will a lady beg and beseech for due Justice?
How long will the Law be a gagged, wretched spectator?
How long will prevail this heinous, nefarious dictator?

Ever since, a lady, the most endangered tortured species,
Jeoparadized for lack of priceless, platonic male courtesies.
Has been hoping against hope for a  timely Divine Intervention!
Who else can, except God, grant her such a long sought Emancipation?

TO THE MELODIOUS CUCKOO!

  • TO THE MELODIOUS CUCKOO!

Yes, you prove Shakespeare cent percent wrong,
With your customary, dulcet and captivating song;
Amidst the concrete jungle’s raucous, rasping cacophony,
You retain your unhampered, celestial, enchanting symphony!

How loud, uninterrupted, clear and joyous your tone is,
How transparent and transcendental your message is,
How touching, sweet and soothing your cooh, cooh echo is,
How much my unrestrained, discomfited heart pleased is!

Today, I heard you at a composed, placid chirpy dawn,
I hear you in the deafeningly honking, noisy afternoon.
Ah! Unable am I to deduce your supra-mundane language,
That lessens my terrestrial burdens, and does assuage,
The nagging worries my unbridled unrefined mind carries,
And transform ‘the same wandering’ with no more queries!

Oh! How you heal all my niggling pains with your mesmerizing Musics
For, convinced I am, it is one of God’s miraculous, melodious Magics!

* the same wandering-mind

N.B: I am quoting Shakespeare’s view regarding the unimpressive sound of the Nightingale in the noisy cackling of the goose.

MERCHANT OF VENICE, ACT IV, SCENE -1

PORTIA: “The crow doth sing as sweetly as the lark,
When neither is attended: and I think
The nightingale, if she should sing by day,
When every goose is cackling, would be thought
No better a musician than the wren.”
