1. Write an original story based on a text message from an unknown number and the mystery about the message's sender. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

The Mysterious Message

It was a quiet Sunday evening. Fifteen-year-old Rohan was sitting in his room and completing his science project. His parents had gone to the market, and he was alone at home. Suddenly, his mobile phone vibrated. He looked at the screen and noticed a text message from an unknown number. The message said, "Do not go to the old bridge at 6:30 this evening. Stay away. Trust me."

Rohan was puzzled. He did not recognise the number. He tried to call it immediately, but the phone was switched off. He even sent a reply asking, "Who are you?" but there was no response. He thought someone was trying to frighten him.

Just then, his friend Vivek called and invited him to meet near the old bridge before going to the playground. Rohan was about to leave, but the strange message came to his mind again. Although he felt embarrassed, he made an excuse and decided to stay at home.

At exactly 6:30 p.m., loud shouting was heard from outside. Later, the television news reported that a heavily loaded truck had lost control while crossing the old bridge. The accident caused part of the bridge railing to collapse, and several people standing nearby were injured. Rohan realised that he might also have been there if he had ignored the warning.

The next day, he visited the police station and showed them the mysterious message. They tried to trace the number, but they discovered that it had been deactivated only a few minutes after the message was sent. No records revealed the sender's identity.

Weeks passed, but the mystery remained unsolved. Rohan often wondered who had saved his life. Was it a kind stranger who knew about the danger? Was it someone who wished to help without revealing their name? He never found the answer.

From that day onwards, Rohan became more careful and learned that wise advice should never be ignored, even when it comes from an unexpected source. The unknown sender was never found, but the mysterious message changed his life forever.

Moral: A timely warning can save a life, so never ignore sincere advice.

A Memorable Meeting with My Idol

Everyone has someone they admire and wish to meet one day. My greatest inspiration is Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam because of his simple life, hard work, and love for students. Although he is no longer with us, I often imagine how wonderful it would have been to meet him. The following is my imagined experience.

Last year, I heard that Dr. Kalam was visiting my city to attend a programme for students. Thousands of people gathered at the auditorium to listen to his speech. I was excited because it was the first time I would see my idol in person. I reached the venue early with my teachers and classmates.

When Dr. Kalam entered the hall, everyone welcomed him with loud applause. He greeted the audience with a warm smile and spoke in a calm and friendly manner. He encouraged students to dream big, work hard, and never lose hope. He said that every young person has the power to change the future through knowledge, honesty, and determination. His simple words touched everyone's heart.

After the programme, a few students were selected to meet him personally. I was lucky to be one of them. When my turn came, I greeted him respectfully. He smiled, shook my hand, and asked me about my studies and future plans. I told him that I wanted to become a scientist and serve the country. He advised me to read good books, remain curious, and never be afraid of failure because every failure teaches an important lesson.

Before leaving, he signed my notebook and wished me success. That notebook became my most valuable possession.

Meeting my idol was one of the happiest moments of my life. His humble nature and inspiring words filled me with confidence and gave me a new purpose in life. Since that day, I have worked harder, respected my teachers more, and believed that sincere effort can make even the biggest dream come true.

3. Hybrid mode classes are not as ideal as they appear. Express your views either for or against this statement. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

Hybrid Mode Classes Are Not as Ideal as They Appear

The system of hybrid mode classes, where some students attend lessons in the classroom while others join online, became popular during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this method offers flexibility, I believe that hybrid classes are not as ideal as they appear because they create several problems for both students and teachers.

One major disadvantage is that all students do not receive the same learning experience. Students attending the classroom can ask questions directly, participate in activities, and interact with their teachers and classmates. On the other hand, students learning from home may face poor internet connections, technical problems, or distractions. As a result, they may miss important parts of the lesson.

Another problem is that teachers have to divide their attention between students in the classroom and those attending online. Managing both groups at the same time is not easy. Teachers may find it difficult to answer online questions while also teaching the students sitting in front of them. This can reduce the quality of teaching.

Hybrid classes also affect students' social development. School is not only a place for learning from books but also for making friends, working in groups, and developing communication skills. Students attending online classes often miss these valuable experiences. They may also spend too much time in front of screens, which can lead to eye strain, tiredness, and lack of physical activity.

Moreover, not every family can afford a computer, smartphone, or a fast internet connection. This creates inequality among students and affects their academic performance.

However, hybrid learning can be useful in special situations such as bad weather, illness, or emergencies. It helps students continue their studies when they cannot attend school. Even then, it should be used only as a temporary solution and not as a complete replacement for regular classroom teaching.

In conclusion, hybrid mode classes have some advantages, but they cannot provide the same learning environment as face-to-face education. Regular classroom teaching remains the best way to ensure equal learning, better interaction, and the overall development of students.

Glossary: Hybrid : a combination of two methods / मिश्रित | Flexibility : ability to adjust easily / लचीलापन | Distractions : things that take attention away / ध्यान भटकाने वाली चीजें | Interact : communicate with others / बातचीत करना | Technical : related to technology / तकनीकी | Social development : growth in communication and social skills / सामाजिक विकास | Communication : exchange of ideas or information / संचार | Inequality : lack of equal opportunities / असमानता | Academic performance : progress in studies / शैक्षणिक प्रदर्शन | Temporary : lasting for a short time / अस्थायी | Replacement : something that takes the place of another / विकल्प

Hybrid Mode Classes Are as Ideal as They Appear

The system of hybrid mode classes, where some students attend lessons in the classroom while others join online, has become increasingly popular in recent years. I do not agree with the statement that hybrid mode classes are not as ideal as they appear. In my opinion, hybrid learning is an effective and practical method of education because it combines the advantages of both classroom and online learning.

One of the greatest benefits of hybrid classes is flexibility. Students who are unable to attend school due to illness, family emergencies, bad weather, or long-distance travel can continue their studies without missing important lessons. This ensures that learning does not stop because of unavoidable circumstances.

Hybrid classes also make education more accessible. Students living in remote areas or those with physical disabilities can participate in regular classes from their homes. They receive the same lessons as their classmates and remain connected with their teachers and school activities. This creates equal learning opportunities for many students.

Another advantage is that hybrid learning encourages the use of technology. Students become familiar with computers, educational apps, online libraries, and digital learning tools. These skills are valuable because technology plays an important role in higher education as well as in modern careers. Teachers can also use videos, presentations, animations, and online quizzes to make lessons more interesting and easier to understand.

Hybrid mode classes also help students become more responsible and independent. They learn to manage their time, complete assignments on schedule, and organise their studies without depending entirely on teachers. These habits prepare them for future academic and professional life.

Although hybrid learning may sometimes face technical problems such as poor internet connections or power failures, these difficulties are gradually decreasing as technology continues to improve. Schools can also provide proper training and better digital facilities to make hybrid education more effective.

In conclusion, hybrid mode classes are a valuable addition to modern education. They provide flexibility, improve digital skills, increase access to quality education, and ensure that learning continues under different circumstances. Rather than replacing classroom teaching, hybrid learning successfully combines the strengths of both methods and prepares students for the future.

Glossary: Hybrid : a combination of two methods / मिश्रित | Flexible : easily adaptable / लचीला | Accessible : easy to reach or use / सुलभ | Circumstances : conditions or situations / परिस्थितियाँ | Disabilities : physical or mental conditions affecting daily life / दिव्यांगता | Digital : related to computers and technology / डिजिटल | Independent : able to work without help / आत्मनिर्भर | Presentations : information shown using slides / प्रस्तुतीकरण | Professional : related to a career or job / व्यावसायिक | Facilities : services or equipment provided / सुविधाएँ

4. ‘A sunrise is the quietest celebration of life.’ Describe an experience when you realised how profound this statement is. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

The Morning That Changed My Thoughts

I had often heard people say that a sunrise is the quietest celebration of life, but I never truly understood its meaning. For me, sunrise was just the beginning of another busy day. However, one unforgettable morning completely changed my thoughts.

Last summer, my family visited my grandparents' village during the holidays. My grandfather woke me up very early and asked me to accompany him on a morning walk. Although I felt sleepy, I agreed. The air was cool and fresh, and the village was calm and peaceful. There was hardly any noise except the sweet songs of birds.

We walked towards a small hill near the fields. The eastern sky slowly changed from dark blue to orange and golden. Within a few minutes, the bright sun appeared above the horizon. Its soft rays spread across the green fields, shining on the trees, flowers, and the nearby river. Tiny drops of dew on the grass sparkled like pearls. Farmers started working in their fields, birds flew happily across the sky, and gentle breezes filled the air with the fragrance of fresh flowers.

As I stood there silently, I felt a deep sense of peace and happiness. There were no loud celebrations, music, or crowds. Yet everything around me seemed full of life. Nature welcomed the new day in its own simple and beautiful way. At that moment, I realised that every sunrise brings hope, fresh opportunities, and a chance to begin again. It reminds us that no matter how difficult yesterday was, today offers a new beginning.

My grandfather smiled and said, "Every sunrise is a gift from nature. Those who wake up to see it learn to value life." His words remained in my mind long after we returned home.

Since that day, I have started waking up early whenever possible to enjoy the beauty of the morning. That peaceful sunrise taught me to appreciate nature, remain hopeful during difficult times, and be thankful for every new day of life.

Glossary: Profound : having deep meaning / गहरा | Accompany : go with someone / साथ जाना | Peaceful : calm and quiet / शांत | Horizon : the line where the earth and sky appear to meet / क्षितिज | Dew : tiny drops of water on grass or leaves / ओस | Sparkled : shone brightly / चमक उठी | Fragrance : pleasant smell / सुगंध | Opportunities : chances / अवसर | Appreciate : recognise the value of / सराहना करना | Hopeful : full of hope / आशावान | Grateful : thankful / आभारी

5. Write a story in which a boy, a farmer and an electrician play an important role. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

The Brave Boy and the Broken Pump

Ravi was a twelve-year-old boy who lived in a small village with his parents. He was kind, helpful, and always ready to assist others. One summer afternoon, while returning from school, he saw an old farmer looking worried near his field.

Ravi walked up to the farmer and politely asked, "Uncle, why are you so upset?" The farmer replied sadly, "My electric water pump has suddenly stopped working. Without water, my crops will dry up in this hot weather. I have already lost precious time."

Ravi knew that there was an experienced electrician named Mr. Sharma who lived nearby. Without wasting a moment, he ran to the electrician's house and explained the farmer's problem. Mr. Sharma immediately collected his tools and accompanied Ravi to the field.

After carefully examining the pump, the electrician discovered that a damaged wire had caused the motor to stop working. He first switched off the main power supply to avoid any danger. Then he replaced the damaged wire and checked all the electrical connections. Within a short time, the pump started working again. Clear water began flowing into the field, and the dry crops seemed to come back to life.

The farmer's face lit up with joy. He thanked the electrician for his skill and praised Ravi for his quick thinking and helpful nature. As a token of gratitude, the farmer gave Ravi a basket of fresh vegetables. Ravi accepted the gift politely but said that helping someone in need was more important than receiving a reward.

The electrician smiled and told Ravi that true heroes are those who use their knowledge and kindness to help others. Ravi felt proud because he had been able to make a difference simply by acting without delay.

From that day onwards, the villagers appreciated Ravi even more. They realised that even a young boy could solve a big problem with courage, presence of mind, and a caring heart. The farmer saved his crops, the electrician used his skills wisely, and Ravi learned that one good deed can bring happiness to many people.

Moral: Kindness, quick thinking, and teamwork can overcome even the biggest difficulties.

Glossary: Farmer : a person who grows crops / किसान | Electrician : a person who repairs electrical equipment / बिजली मिस्त्री | Worried : anxious or troubled / चिंतित | Precious : very valuable / बहुमूल्य | Examining : checking carefully / सावधानी से जाँच करना | Damaged : broken or spoiled / क्षतिग्रस्त | Connections : electrical links or joints / विद्युत् जोड़ | Gratitude : thankfulness / कृतज्ञता | Presence of mind : ability to think quickly in a difficult situation / सूझबूझ | Teamwork : working together to achieve a goal / टीमवर्क

6. A sudden fire broke out in the high-rise building located across the road from your home. Narrate the scene. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

A Terrifying Fire Across the Road

It was a calm Sunday evening, and I was studying in my room when I suddenly heard loud shouts from outside. Curious, I looked through the window and saw thick black smoke rising from a high-rise building located across the road from my house. Within moments, bright flames appeared from one of the upper floors. The peaceful evening quickly turned into a scene of fear and confusion.

People living in the building rushed towards the staircases, carrying their children and important belongings. Some elderly residents needed help to come downstairs. Many people gathered on the road, crying and calling out the names of their family members. Some were trying to contact the fire brigade, while others informed the police and ambulance services. Everyone looked frightened, but many people also came forward to help.

Soon, the loud sirens of fire engines, ambulances, and police vehicles filled the air. The firefighters reached the spot without delay. They quickly connected long hoses to the water supply and began spraying water on the burning floors. A few brave firefighters entered the building wearing protective equipment to rescue the people who were trapped inside. Their courage and dedication impressed everyone present.

The police immediately stopped traffic and created a safety zone around the building. Volunteers distributed drinking water to the rescued families and comforted frightened children. Doctors and nurses examined people who had suffered from burns or had inhaled smoke. Fortunately, most of the residents were rescued safely because the emergency services acted quickly and the building's fire alarm had warned everyone in time.

After nearly two hours of continuous effort, the fire was finally brought under control. Although several flats were badly damaged, the timely action of the firefighters prevented an even greater disaster. The exact cause of the fire was later believed to be a short circuit in one of the electrical systems.

That frightening incident taught me the importance of remaining calm during emergencies and following safety rules. It also made me realise how brave firefighters, police officers, doctors, and volunteers work together to protect people's lives. I will never forget the terrifying yet inspiring scene that I witnessed that day.

7. Machines have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. Express your views either for or against this statement. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

Machines Have Become an Indispensable Part of Our Daily Lives

Machines have changed the way people live, work, study, and communicate. From the moment we wake up until we go to bed, we use different kinds of machines. I strongly agree with the statement that machines have become an indispensable part of our daily lives because they make our work easier, save time, and improve our standard of living.

In our homes, machines such as washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, water purifiers, and vacuum cleaners help us complete household tasks quickly and efficiently. They reduce physical effort and give us more time to spend with our families or focus on other important activities.

Machines have also transformed education. Computers, projectors, printers, calculators, and the internet have made learning more interesting and effective. Students can attend online classes, prepare projects, watch educational videos, and access information from around the world within a few seconds. Teachers also use technology to explain difficult topics in a simple and attractive manner.

In hospitals, modern medical machines help doctors diagnose diseases accurately and perform complex surgeries with greater safety. Life-saving equipment such as ventilators, X-ray machines, MRI scanners, and ultrasound machines have improved healthcare and saved countless lives.

Industries and agriculture also depend heavily on machines. Factories use advanced machines to produce goods quickly and with better quality. Farmers use tractors, harvesters, irrigation pumps, and other agricultural equipment to increase production while reducing hard physical labour. As a result, food production has become faster and more efficient.

However, excessive dependence on machines also has some disadvantages. Too much use of machines can make people physically inactive, leading to health problems. Automation has reduced certain types of jobs, and frequent use of electronic devices may decrease face-to-face communication. Therefore, machines should be used wisely and responsibly.

In conclusion, the advantages of machines are far greater than their disadvantages. They have become an essential part of modern life by improving comfort, increasing productivity, and supporting progress in every field. Instead of becoming dependent on them, we should learn to use machines as useful tools that make our lives better and more meaningful.

Glossary: Indispensable : absolutely necessary / अनिवार्य | Efficiently : in a quick and effective way / कुशलतापूर्वक | Transformed : changed completely / पूरी तरह बदल दिया | Diagnose : identify a disease / रोग का पता लगाना | Surgeries : medical operations / शल्य-चिकित्साएँ | Ventilators : machines that help patients breathe / वेंटिलेटर | Agriculture : farming / कृषि | Automation : use of machines to perform tasks automatically / स्वचालन | Productivity : ability to produce more work

(AGAINST THE STATEMENT)

Machines Have Not Become an Indispensable Part of Our Daily Lives

Machines have undoubtedly made life more comfortable and convenient. However, I do not agree that they have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. Although machines are useful, human intelligence, skills, and determination remain more important. People can still perform many tasks without machines, and excessive dependence on them may create more problems than benefits.

One reason for my opinion is that human beings lived successfully for thousands of years before modern machines were invented. They grew food, built houses, travelled, and communicated using their own knowledge and hard work. Even today, many people in villages and remote areas continue to lead productive lives with very limited use of machines.

Another disadvantage of depending too much on machines is that people may become lazy and physically inactive. Household appliances and electronic gadgets reduce physical work, which can lead to obesity and other health problems. Students who spend long hours using computers and mobile phones may also reduce outdoor activities, affecting their physical and mental well-being.

Machines can also fail unexpectedly. Power cuts, technical faults, or software errors may stop important work. If people depend entirely on machines, they may find it difficult to manage such situations. Therefore, everyone should learn basic life skills instead of relying completely on technology.

Moreover, machines cannot replace human qualities such as creativity, kindness, wisdom, and emotions. A machine can calculate quickly, but it cannot understand human feelings or make moral decisions. Teachers, doctors, artists, and parents contribute much more than machines because they combine knowledge with compassion and experience.

This does not mean that machines are unnecessary. They are valuable tools that should be used wisely to save time and improve efficiency. However, they should remain our helpers, not our masters. Human beings must always remain capable of thinking independently and solving problems without depending entirely on technology.

In conclusion, machines are helpful but not indispensable. A balanced life requires both technology and human effort. We should use machines to support our work while preserving our skills, health, and independence.

Glossary: Indispensable : absolutely necessary / अनिवार्य | Dependence : relying too much on something / निर्भरता | Productive : able to produce useful results / उत्पादक | Inactive : not physically active / निष्क्रिय | Obesity : excessive body weight / मोटापा | Technical faults : problems in a machine or system / तकनीकी खराबियाँ | Creativity : ability to produce new ideas / रचनात्मकता | Compassion : kindness and concern for others / करुणा | Independently : without depending on others / स्वतंत्र रूप से | Efficiency : ability to work well with less effort / दक्षता

8. Suppose you are chosen to travel to space as a tourist. Describe your feelings about the opportunity, the rigorous preparations ahead and the difficulties you foresee during your space adventure. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

My Dream Journey into Space

If I were chosen to travel to space as a tourist, it would be one of the happiest and most unforgettable moments of my life. Ever since childhood, I have been fascinated by the stars, the Moon, and the planets. Watching rockets launch into the sky has always filled me with excitement. Therefore, receiving such a rare opportunity would truly be a dream come true.

The news would fill me with both joy and responsibility. I would feel proud to represent my country and grateful for the chance to experience something that only a few people in the world have enjoyed. At the same time, I would understand that space travel is not an ordinary holiday. It requires discipline, courage, and careful preparation.

Before the journey, I would have to undergo rigorous training. I would need to improve my physical fitness through regular exercise and medical check-ups. Experts would train me to handle emergencies, use space equipment, and communicate with the mission team. I would also learn how to move in zero gravity, wear a space suit properly, and remain calm under stressful conditions. Although the training would be difficult and tiring, I would complete it with determination because safety is the most important part of any space mission.

Despite my excitement, I know that the journey would not be free from difficulties. Living in a spacecraft for several days would be challenging. Floating in zero gravity could cause dizziness, motion sickness, and discomfort. Sleeping, eating, and even drinking water would be very different from life on Earth. I would also miss my family and friends because communication would be limited. Moreover, space is a dangerous environment where every small mistake can have serious consequences.

However, I believe that every challenge would be worth facing. Looking at the blue Earth from space, watching the sunrise over the horizon, and seeing countless stars without pollution would be experiences beyond imagination. Such a journey would increase my respect for science, technology, and the brave people who make space travel possible. 9. Write an original story in which the protagonist is an optimist as well as a hard worker. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

Success Through Hope and Hard Work

Arjun was a sixteen-year-old boy who belonged to a poor family in a small village. His father worked as a labourer, and his mother stitched clothes to support the family. Although their income was limited, Arjun never complained about his situation. He believed that every problem had a solution and that hard work could change his future. His teachers often admired him because he was both an optimist and a hardworking student.

Every morning, Arjun woke up before sunrise to help his parents with household chores. After that, he walked several kilometres to school. In the evening, he studied under a streetlight because his family could not always afford electricity. Even after a long and tiring day, he never lost his enthusiasm. Whenever his friends became discouraged by difficulties, Arjun encouraged them by saying, "Success belongs to those who never stop trying."

One year, just a few months before the final examination, Arjun fell seriously ill. He remained absent from school for nearly two weeks. Many people believed that he would fail the examination because he had missed many important lessons. However, Arjun refused to lose hope. After recovering, he borrowed his classmates' notebooks, attended extra classes, and studied late into the night. Whenever he found a difficult chapter, he patiently practised it until he understood it completely.

The day of the results finally arrived. Arjun was nervous but confident because he had given his best. To everyone's surprise, he secured the first position in the district. His parents were filled with joy, and his teachers proudly congratulated him. The local newspaper even published his inspiring story.

When a reporter asked him the secret of his success, Arjun smiled and replied, "Hard work gives us the strength to move forward, and optimism gives us the courage to continue even when life becomes difficult. Together, they can overcome any obstacle."

Arjun's achievement inspired many students in his village to believe in themselves. His story proved that success does not depend on wealth or luck. It belongs to those who remain hopeful, work sincerely, and never give up, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

10. Narrate an incident when you went to meet a friend but found yourself lost, without money or a mobile phone. State the challenges you faced and how you eventually managed to find your way back home. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

Lost in an Unfamiliar Place

One Sunday afternoon, I decided to visit my friend Rahul, who had recently shifted to a new house in another part of the city. He had told me the address a few days earlier, and I thought I would easily remember it. In my excitement, I left home without carrying any money or my mobile phone. I believed that I would return within a short time.

After travelling by bus, I got down at what I thought was the correct stop. Soon I realised that I had made a mistake. The roads looked unfamiliar, and I could not remember the exact address of my friend's house. I asked a few people for directions, but everyone gave different answers. Instead of reaching my destination, I wandered farther away and became completely lost.

As time passed, I started feeling worried. The weather became hot, and I felt tired and thirsty. Since I had no money, I could not buy water or travel by bus. Without a mobile phone, I was unable to contact my friend or my parents. For the first time, I understood how important it is to be properly prepared before going to an unfamiliar place.

Instead of becoming frightened, I decided to remain calm. I carefully observed the names of nearby roads and shops. Then I noticed a police assistance booth at a busy traffic crossing. I went there and explained my situation to the police officer on duty. He listened patiently and asked me a few questions about my home, my school, and the area where I lived.

Fortunately, I remembered my father's phone number. The officer used his mobile phone to contact my father and informed him about my location. Within an hour, my father arrived and took me home safely. He was relieved to see me, and I apologised for being careless.

That incident taught me several valuable lessons. I realised that we should never travel without carrying some money, a mobile phone, and the correct address of our destination. More importantly, I learned that staying calm and seeking help from responsible people can help us overcome even the most difficult situations.

Glossary: Unfamiliar : not known / अपरिचित | Destination : the place one is going to / गंतव्य | Wandered : walked without knowing the way / भटक गया | Assistance : help or support / सहायता | Observed : noticed carefully / ध्यान से देखा | Patiently : calmly and without irritation / धैर्यपूर्वक | Location : a particular place / स्थान | Relieved : free from worry / राहत महसूस करना | Careless : not paying enough attention / लापरवाह | Destination : place where one intends to go / गंतव्य

11. Competition is good for the development of teenagers. Express your views either for or against this statement. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

Competition Is Good for the Development of Teenagers

Competition is a natural part of life. Students compete in examinations, sports, debates, quizzes, and many other activities. I strongly agree with the statement that healthy competition is good for the development of teenagers because it motivates them to improve their abilities, build confidence, and prepare for future challenges.

One of the greatest benefits of competition is that it encourages students to work harder. When teenagers know that they have to perform well, they become more disciplined and focused. They learn to manage their time wisely, set goals, and put in regular effort to achieve success. These habits remain useful throughout their lives.

Competition also helps teenagers discover their talents. Some students perform well in academics, while others excel in sports, music, art, or public speaking. Competitions provide opportunities for them to identify their strengths and improve their skills. Winning a competition increases self-confidence, while losing teaches valuable lessons about patience, determination, and self-improvement.

Another important advantage is that competition prepares teenagers for the real world. In future, they will compete for admission to colleges, scholarships, jobs, and promotions. Learning to face competition from an early age helps them become mentally strong and teaches them how to handle both success and failure with maturity.

However, competition should always remain healthy. Excessive pressure to win can create stress, anxiety, and disappointment. Some students may compare themselves unfairly with others or even adopt dishonest methods to succeed. Parents and teachers should therefore encourage students to compete with their own previous performance rather than trying to defeat others at any cost. The real purpose of competition should be learning and personal growth, not merely winning prizes.

In conclusion, competition plays an important role in the overall development of teenagers when it is guided by the right values. It develops confidence, discipline, perseverance, and a positive attitude towards challenges. Healthy competition inspires teenagers to become better individuals and prepares them to face the demands of life with courage, honesty, and determination.

Glossary: Competition : a contest to achieve success / प्रतियोगिता | Development : growth and improvement / विकास | Disciplined : following rules and self-control / अनुशासित | Talents : natural abilities / प्रतिभाएँ | Excel : perform very well / उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करना | Determination : firm decision to succeed / दृढ़ संकल्प | Scholarships : financial support for education / छात्रवृत्तियाँ | Maturity : ability to think and act wisely / परिपक्वता | Perseverance : continued effort despite difficulties / दृढ़ता | Anxiety : feeling of worry or nervousness / चिंता

(AGAINST THE STATEMENT)

Competition Is Not Always Good for the Development of Teenagers

Competition is a part of modern life, and it can sometimes encourage students to improve themselves. However, I do not agree that competition is always good for the development of teenagers. When competition becomes excessive, it can create stress, reduce self-confidence, and affect the overall growth of young people.

One of the biggest disadvantages of unhealthy competition is the pressure to succeed. Many teenagers feel that they must always score the highest marks or win every contest. This constant pressure often leads to anxiety, fear of failure, and disappointment. Instead of enjoying learning, students begin to study only to defeat others.

Another problem is that competition may encourage comparison. Teenagers often compare their marks, talents, or achievements with those of their friends. Those who do not perform well may feel inferior and lose confidence in their abilities. Every student has different talents and learns at a different pace, so comparing everyone by the same standard is unfair.

Excessive competition can also harm friendships. Instead of helping one another, some students become jealous or selfish because they see their classmates as rivals. In some cases, students may even adopt unfair means to win, which weakens the values of honesty and sportsmanship.

Furthermore, too much competition may affect physical and mental health. Teenagers may lose sleep, skip recreation, and ignore their hobbies in order to achieve higher ranks. Such an unhealthy lifestyle can lead to stress and reduce their happiness.

Instead of promoting constant competition, schools should encourage cooperation, teamwork, creativity, and personal improvement. Students should compete with their own previous performance rather than trying to defeat others. This approach develops confidence without creating unnecessary pressure.

In conclusion, competition should be limited and healthy. The true aim of education is to develop knowledge, character, and good values rather than simply producing winners and losers. Teenagers grow best in an environment where they are encouraged to learn, cooperate, and improve themselves without excessive pressure.

Glossary: Competition : a contest to achieve success / प्रतियोगिता | Excessive : too much / अत्यधिक | Anxiety : feeling of worry or nervousness / चिंता | Comparison : judging one thing against another / तुलना | Inferior : not as good as others / हीन | Rivals : competitors / प्रतिद्वन्द्वी | Sportsmanship : fair and respectful behaviour in competition / खेल भावना | Recreation : activities done for enjoyment / मनोरंजन | Cooperation : working together / सहयोग | Character : moral qualities of a person / चरित्र

(Word Limit: 300–350 words)

A Pleasant Reunion After Five Years

Life often takes people in different directions, but true friendship never fades. Last month, I had a wonderful surprise when I met my childhood friend, Rohan, after a gap of five years. It was a chance meeting that filled me with happiness and brought back many sweet memories of our school days.

I was visiting a bookshop to buy some reference books when I heard someone call my name. I turned around and was delighted to see Rohan standing in front of me. For a few moments, we simply looked at each other with surprise before warmly shaking hands. We had both changed a lot. Rohan had grown taller and looked more confident, while he said that I appeared more mature than before.

We decided to sit in a nearby café and spend some time talking. Our conversation began with our school memories, favourite teachers, and the games we used to play together. Soon, we started discussing how our lives had changed over the past five years.

Rohan told me that his family had shifted to another city because of his father's transfer. He had joined a new school, made many friends, and developed a strong interest in computer programming. He had even won several prizes in coding competitions and hoped to become a software engineer in the future.

I shared my own experiences with him. I told him that I had continued my studies in my hometown and had become more interested in science and literature. I had participated in debates, essay-writing competitions, and science exhibitions. These activities had improved my confidence and communication skills. I also told him that I wished to become a scientist and contribute to the country's progress.

Although our interests and experiences had changed, our friendship remained the same. We laughed at old memories and realised that the values we had learned together still connected us. Before leaving, we exchanged our phone numbers and promised to stay in regular contact.

As I returned home, I felt grateful for that unexpected meeting. It reminded me that time may change our appearance and circumstances, but true friendship, built on trust and affection, remains strong forever.

13. Write a story based on the following: a studious girl, dependence on others, an important project, lesson learnt.

(Word Limit: 300–350 words)

The Value of Self-Reliance

Ananya was a bright and studious girl studying in Class X. She was known for her good marks, polite behaviour, and disciplined nature. Her teachers appreciated her sincerity, and her classmates often asked for her help in their studies. However, despite being intelligent, Ananya had one weakness. She depended too much on others for small tasks because she believed that working with others would save her time and effort.

One day, her science teacher announced an important project that would carry a large number of marks in the final assessment. Each student had to prepare the project individually. Ananya planned to complete it with the help of her friend Neha, who was good at making attractive charts and models.

For several days, Ananya waited for Neha to collect information and prepare the diagrams. Whenever she thought of starting the project herself, she postponed it, believing that Neha would help her soon. Unfortunately, just a week before the submission date, Neha fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. She could not complete her own project, let alone help Ananya.

Ananya became worried because very little time was left. She realised that she had wasted many valuable days depending on someone else. Instead of giving up, she decided to work hard on her own. She visited the library, searched for information in books, prepared neat diagrams, and spent several evenings completing the project with great care. Although she had to work harder than expected, she successfully finished the project before the deadline.

On the day of submission, the teacher carefully examined every project. She praised Ananya's work for its originality, neat presentation, and accurate information. Ananya felt proud because she had completed the entire project through her own efforts.

That experience taught her a valuable lesson. It is good to seek advice and guidance from others, but we should never become completely dependent on them. Self-confidence, proper planning, and hard work always lead to success. From that day onwards, Ananya became more independent and responsible in everything she did.

Moral: Self-reliance and timely action are the keys to success.

Glossary:
Studious : hardworking in studies /

Version A – My First Flight

My First Flight – A Dream Come True

Everyone has a special experience that remains unforgettable throughout life. For me, it was my first journey by aeroplane. Although I had often seen aeroplanes flying high in the sky, I had never imagined that I would travel in one so soon. The excitement of that journey is still fresh in my memory.

Last year, during the summer vacation, my family planned a trip to Mumbai to visit some relatives. My parents decided that we would travel by air. The moment I heard the news, I became extremely excited. I spent several days reading about aeroplanes and watching videos related to air travel. On the day of the journey, we reached the airport early. The large terminal building, security checks, electronic display boards, and aircraft parked outside fascinated me.

Soon it was time to board the aircraft. I was fortunate to get a window seat. After all the passengers had settled down and fastened their seat belts, the aircraft slowly moved towards the runway. A few moments later, it began to accelerate rapidly and suddenly lifted off the ground. My heart was filled with excitement and wonder.

As the aircraft climbed higher, the buildings, roads, and vehicles below looked tiny. Soon we were flying above the clouds, which appeared like a vast sea of white cotton. The view was breathtaking. During the flight, I enjoyed the refreshments served by the cabin crew and carefully observed everything around me.

The landing was equally thrilling. As the aircraft touched the runway safely, the passengers smiled with relief and happiness. I felt proud that I had completed my first flight successfully.

This experience remains unforgettable because it transformed a childhood dream into reality. It also increased my confidence and inspired me to travel more in the future. Whenever I see an aeroplane in the sky, I remember that wonderful journey with joy and gratitude.

Version B – My First Flight

An Unforgettable Journey to Kashmir

Travelling to a distant place is always exciting because it allows us to experience new cultures, landscapes, and ways of life. One of the most thrilling experiences of my life was a family trip to Kashmir, often called the "Paradise on Earth." The beauty and adventure of that journey made it truly unforgettable.

During the winter vacation, my parents planned a visit to Kashmir. It was my first journey to a place so far from home. After a long train journey and a flight, we finally reached Srinagar. The cool weather, snow-covered mountains, and beautiful valleys welcomed us. The scenery was so magnificent that it seemed like a picture from a storybook.

One of the most exciting moments was visiting Gulmarg. I saw snow for the first time in my life. I played in the snow, built a snowman, and enjoyed a cable car ride over the mountains. The view from the top was breathtaking. Endless stretches of white snow covered the landscape, while tall pine trees stood proudly against the clear blue sky.

We also visited Dal Lake and enjoyed a peaceful ride in a traditional shikara. The calm water reflected the surrounding mountains, creating a magical scene. The local people were warm and friendly, and I enjoyed tasting Kashmiri food and learning about their customs and traditions.

The journey taught me many valuable lessons. It helped me appreciate the beauty of nature and understand the importance of protecting the environment. It also brought my family closer together as we spent quality time sharing new experiences.

Even today, whenever I look at the photographs from that trip, I relive those wonderful moments. The snow-covered mountains, the peaceful lake, and the excitement of exploring a new place remain vivid in my memory. This journey is unforgettable because it combined adventure, learning, and happiness, making it one of the most treasured experiences of my life.

Version C – An Achievement That Filled Me with Joy

The Day I Won My First Prize

Success achieved through hard work gives a special kind of happiness. Among all the memorable moments of my life, winning my first prize in an inter-school speech competition remains the most thrilling and unforgettable experience.

When my English teacher selected me to represent my school, I felt both excited and nervous. Speaking before a large audience was not easy for me because I was shy by nature. However, my teachers encouraged me and helped me prepare my speech. Every day after school, I practised for several hours. I stood before a mirror, improved my pronunciation, and learned how to speak confidently.

Finally, the day of the competition arrived. Students from many schools participated in the event. When my name was announced, my heartbeat became faster. I walked onto the stage, greeted the audience politely, and began my speech. At first, I felt nervous, but gradually my confidence grew. I spoke clearly, maintained eye contact with the audience, and completed my speech without making any mistakes. The loud applause at the end filled me with happiness.

After all the participants had finished, the judges announced the results. When they declared my name as the first prize winner, I could hardly believe my ears. I proudly walked to the stage to receive the trophy and certificate. My teachers congratulated me warmly, and my parents were overjoyed. Their smiling faces made my success even more meaningful.

That achievement changed my life. It removed my fear of public speaking and taught me that confidence grows through regular practice and determination. Since then, I have participated in many competitions with greater courage and enthusiasm.

Even today, the trophy is displayed in my study room. Whenever I look at it, I remember the hard work, encouragement, and excitement that made the day unforgettable. It reminds me that sincere effort always brings success and gives us the confidence to dream even bigger.

15. The youngest siblings have everything easy. Express your views either for or against this statement. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

FOR THE STATEMENT

The Youngest Siblings Have Everything Easy

Many people believe that the youngest child in a family enjoys a more comfortable life than the elder brothers and sisters. I agree with this statement because younger siblings often receive more care, affection, and support from both parents and older family members. As a result, many responsibilities become easier for them.

One of the biggest advantages of being the youngest sibling is receiving extra love and attention. Parents are usually more experienced by the time their youngest child is born. They understand parenting better and are often more patient and less strict. The youngest child is usually protected from many difficulties that the elder children had to face while growing up.

Another reason is that younger siblings benefit from the experience of their elder brothers and sisters. They receive guidance in studies, sports, and other activities. If they face any difficulty in homework or school projects, their elder siblings are often ready to help them. This support gives them greater confidence and reduces many challenges.

The youngest child also receives many ready-made advantages. They often use books, uniforms, toys, bicycles, and other useful items that belonged to their elder siblings. Parents already know which schools, teachers, and coaching centres are good because the elder children have gone through the same experience. This saves both time and money.

Moreover, younger siblings usually enjoy greater freedom. Parents become less anxious as they gain experience in raising children. Therefore, they may allow the youngest child to make more choices regarding hobbies, friendships, and career interests.

Of course, being the youngest does not mean life is completely free from difficulties. Every child has responsibilities and faces challenges. However, compared with the elder siblings, the youngest child often enjoys more guidance, protection, and emotional support.

In conclusion, I believe that the youngest siblings generally have an easier life. They benefit from the experience of their parents and elder siblings, receive more affection, and face fewer hardships while growing up. Although hard work is necessary for everyone, the youngest child often begins life with several natural advantages.

Glossary: Siblings : brothers and sisters / भाई-बहन | Affection : love and care / स्नेह | Experienced : having gained knowledge through practice / अनुभवी | Guidance : advice and direction / मार्गदर्शन | Confidence : belief in one's abilities / आत्मविश्वास | Advantages : benefits / लाभ | Freedom : ability to make one's own choices / स्वतंत्रता | Responsibilities : duties / जिम्मेदारियाँ | Emotional : related to feelings / भावनात्मक | Hardships : difficulties / कठिनाइयाँ

AGAINST THE STATEMENT

The Youngest Siblings Do Not Have Everything Easy

Many people think that the youngest child in a family has the easiest life because he or she receives more love and care. However, I do not agree with this opinion. Although younger siblings may enjoy certain advantages, they also face many difficulties that are often ignored. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that they have everything easy.

One common challenge is that younger siblings are often not taken seriously. Since they are the youngest, older family members may consider them too immature to make important decisions. Their opinions are sometimes ignored simply because of their age. This can affect their confidence and make them feel less valued.

Another difficulty is constant comparison with elder siblings. If the older children perform well in studies, sports, or other activities, parents and teachers may expect the youngest child to achieve the same or even better results. Such comparisons create unnecessary pressure and may reduce self-esteem.

The youngest child also has less independence in many families. Parents and elder siblings tend to be overprotective. They may not allow the youngest child to go out alone, make independent decisions, or take responsibilities. As a result, the child may not get enough opportunities to develop confidence and leadership qualities.

Moreover, younger siblings often receive second-hand books, clothes, toys, and other belongings. While this may save money, it can also make them feel that they rarely receive something special of their own. At times, they may feel that most important family decisions have already been influenced by their elder siblings.

Every child, whether eldest, middle, or youngest, experiences different advantages and challenges. Family circumstances, parenting styles, and individual personalities play a much greater role than birth order alone. Therefore, it is unfair to assume that the youngest sibling always has an easy life.

In conclusion, the youngest siblings certainly receive love and care, but they also face comparisons, overprotection, and limited independence. Their lives are not necessarily easier than those of their elder brothers and sisters. Every child has unique struggles and deserves equal understanding and encouragement.

Glossary: Immature : not fully grown or experienced / अपरिपक्व | Comparison : judging one person against another / तुलना | Self-esteem : respect for oneself / आत्मसम्मान | Independence : ability to act on one's own / स्वतंत्रता | Overprotective : too protective / अत्यधिक संरक्षण करने वाला | Leadership : ability to guide others / नेतृत्व | Belongings : personal possessions / सामान | Circumstances : conditions or situations / परिस्थितियाँ | Personalities : individual characters / व्यक्तित्व | Encouragement : support and motivation / प्रोत्साहन

16. It is believed that teenagers are misunderstood as their feelings and opinions are dismissed as childish or overindulged. Describe an incident that supports this belief.
(Word Limit: 300–350 words)

When My Opinion Was Ignored

People often think that teenagers are too young to understand serious matters. Their opinions are sometimes dismissed as childish, even when they have sensible ideas. I experienced this myself during an important family event, and it taught me how deeply such misunderstandings can affect a teenager.

Last year, my family planned to celebrate my grandmother's seventieth birthday. My parents and relatives wanted to organise a grand party at an expensive hotel. Everyone was excited about the plan, but I felt that the money could be used in a better way. I suggested celebrating the occasion at home with close relatives and using the remaining money to buy useful gifts for my grandparents and donate some amount to a nearby old-age home.

As soon as I shared my opinion, a few relatives smiled and said, "You are still a child. You don't understand these matters." Others ignored my suggestion and continued discussing the decorations, music, and menu. I felt hurt because nobody tried to understand my point of view. It seemed that my opinion was rejected only because I was a teenager.

A few days later, my grandfather quietly asked me why I had made that suggestion. I explained that I wanted the celebration to be meaningful rather than expensive. He appreciated my idea and discussed it with the rest of the family. Gradually, everyone realised that my suggestion was practical and thoughtful. Finally, we celebrated the birthday at home, invited our close relatives, and donated food, clothes, and blankets to an old-age home. The celebration became memorable because it brought happiness not only to our family but also to many elderly people.

That incident changed the attitude of my family. They realised that good ideas can come from people of any age. It also taught me that teenagers should express their opinions confidently and patiently, even if they are not accepted immediately.

This experience remains special because it proved that teenagers are often misunderstood. Instead of dismissing their thoughts as childish, adults should listen carefully and judge ideas on their merit rather than on the speaker's age.

Glossary: Dismissed : rejected without proper consideration / नज़रअंदाज़ किया | Overindulged : treated with excessive care or freedom / अत्यधिक लाड़-प्यार किया हुआ | Meaningful : having importance or value / सार्थक | Practical : sensible and useful / व्यावहारिक | Relatives : members of the family / रिश्तेदार | Appreciated : recognised the value of / सराहना की | Memorable : worth remembering / यादगार | Attitude : way of thinking or behaving / दृष्टिकोण | Merit : quality or worth / योग्यता | Confidently : with self-belief / आत्मविश्वास के साथ

17. Write a story in which a group of friends, an exhibition and CCTV footage play an important role. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

The Mystery at the Science Exhibition

A group of five friends—Aman, Riya, Karan, Meera, and Rahul—were excited to visit the annual science exhibition organised by their school. Students from different schools had displayed creative models and innovative projects. The exhibition hall was crowded with visitors, and everyone was enjoying the fascinating displays.

The friends spent nearly two hours observing different exhibits. They admired robots, working volcano models, water conservation projects, and many other interesting inventions. Before leaving, they stopped near a table where a beautiful gold-coloured medal, awarded to the best project of the previous year, was displayed inside a glass case.

Suddenly, loud voices disturbed the peaceful atmosphere. The medal had disappeared. The teachers immediately closed the exit gates to prevent anyone from leaving. Everyone was shocked. Since Aman had been standing near the display a few minutes earlier, a few students wrongly suspected him of stealing the medal. Aman was deeply upset because he had done nothing wrong.

The principal requested everyone to remain calm. He announced that the school had installed CCTV cameras throughout the exhibition hall. The CCTV footage would reveal what had actually happened. Everyone gathered in the school office while the security officer carefully examined the recordings.

The CCTV footage clearly showed that an elderly visitor had accidentally picked up the medal, thinking it was part of a demonstration. He had placed it inside his bag without realising his mistake. As soon as he was informed, he apologised sincerely and returned the medal. The misunderstanding was finally cleared, and Aman was proved innocent.

The teachers praised the importance of modern technology in solving problems fairly. They also reminded the students that nobody should be blamed without proper evidence. Aman felt relieved, and his friends stood by him throughout the incident, giving him courage and support.

As they returned home, the friends realised that honesty, trust, and patience are just as important as intelligence. They also understood that CCTV cameras not only help catch wrongdoers but also protect innocent people from false accusations. The exhibition ended with an important lesson that all of them would remember for a long time.

Moral: Never judge anyone without proper evidence, because truth always comes to light.

Glossary: Exhibition : a public display of objects or projects / प्रदर्शनी | Innovative : introducing new ideas / नवीन | Conservation : protection from waste or damage / संरक्षण | Suspected : believed to be guilty without proof / संदेह किया | CCTV footage : video recorded by security cameras / सीसीटीवी रिकॉर्डिंग | Demonstration : a display showing how something works / प्रदर्शन | Misunderstanding : wrong interpretation of a situation / गलतफहमी | Evidence : proof supporting a fact / साक्ष्य | Innocent : not guilty / निर्दोष | Accusations : claims that someone has done something wrong / आरोप

Every year, this festival brings people of all ages together and fills the entire neighbourhood with happiness, devotion, and excitement. It is undoubtedly everyone's favourite celebration because it strengthens the spirit of unity and togetherness.

Fresh fruits, sweets, coconuts, and especially modaks, believed to be Lord Ganesha's favourite sweet, are offered as prasad. Many cultural programmes such as music, dance performances, devotional singing, drawing competitions, and social awareness activities are also organised during the festival. These programmes encourage people to participate and strengthen the bond among neighbours.

One of the most memorable moments of Ganesh Chaturthi is the Ganesh Visarjan procession. On the final day, devotees carry the idol through the streets with music, dancing, and joyful chants before immersing it in a river, lake, or sea. Although everyone feels emotional while bidding farewell to Lord Ganesha, they do so with the hope that He will return the following year with more happiness and blessings.

Ganesh Chaturthi teaches us the values of devotion, unity, generosity, and environmental responsibility. Nowadays, many people use eco-friendly idols and avoid plastic decorations to protect nature. This beautiful tradition reminds us that festivals should spread joy without harming the environment.

For me, Ganesh Chaturthi is much more than a religious festival. It is a celebration of faith, culture, friendship, and community spirit. The prayers, colourful decorations, cultural programmes, and joyful gatherings make it an unforgettable festival that everyone eagerly waits for every year.

B. Dussehra – The Festival of the Victory of Good over Evil

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in our community. It marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana and reminds us that truth, courage, and goodness always triumph over evil. Every year, people eagerly wait for this festival because it brings families and neighbours together in a spirit of joy, devotion, and unity.

Preparations for Dussehra begin several days before the festival. Markets become crowded with people buying new clothes, sweets, decorations, and gifts. Large grounds are cleaned and decorated for the staging of Ramlila, a dramatic performance based on the life of Lord Rama from the Ramayana. Every evening, people gather to watch different scenes from the epic. Children especially enjoy these performances because they learn important moral values while being entertained.

On the day of Dussehra, families wake up early, wear traditional clothes, and visit temples to offer prayers. Many people decorate their homes with flowers and colourful rangoli designs. Relatives and friends visit one another, exchange sweets, and convey good wishes for happiness and prosperity.

The most exciting part of the celebration takes place in the evening. Huge effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad are erected in open grounds. As thousands of people gather, an actor dressed as Lord Rama shoots a burning arrow at the effigies. Within moments, they burst into flames amid loud cheers, fireworks, and devotional songs. The spectacular sight fills everyone with excitement and symbolises the destruction of evil and the victory of righteousness.

Dussehra also teaches us valuable lessons. It inspires us to be honest, courageous, humble, and truthful in our daily lives. The festival reminds us that qualities such as anger, greed, pride, and jealousy should be defeated just as Lord Rama defeated Ravana.

For me, Dussehra is much more than a religious festival. It is a celebration of faith, culture, family values, and moral principles. The colourful Ramlila performances, joyful gatherings, and inspiring message make Dussehra one of the most memorable and beloved festivals in our community.

C. Diwali – The Festival of Lights

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the happiest and most widely celebrated festivals in our community. It marks the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana and completing fourteen years of exile. The people of Ayodhya welcomed him by lighting rows of oil lamps. Since then, Diwali has been celebrated with great joy, devotion, and enthusiasm. It brings families, friends, and neighbours together and spreads the message of peace, happiness, and the victory of good over evil.

Preparations for Diwali begin several days in advance. People thoroughly clean and decorate their homes because it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits neat and beautiful houses to bless them with prosperity. Colourful rangoli designs are made at the entrance, while diyas, candles, and decorative lights brighten every corner of the house. Markets become crowded as people buy new clothes, sweets, gifts, decorations, and other festive items.

On the day of Diwali, family members wake up early, wear traditional clothes, and complete the final preparations. In the evening, everyone gathers to perform Lakshmi Puja and Ganesh Puja, praying for peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity. Delicious sweets and snacks are prepared at home and distributed among relatives, neighbours, and friends. Exchanging gifts and visiting one another strengthen relationships and spread goodwill throughout the community.

After the prayers, homes, temples, and streets sparkle with thousands of glowing lamps and colourful lights. Children eagerly enjoy lighting sparklers and other safe fireworks under the guidance of elders. Many families now celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali by using fewer crackers, reducing noise and air pollution, and choosing green decorations. This makes the celebration safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

Diwali teaches us that goodness always defeats evil and that light always removes darkness. It also reminds us to share our happiness with those who are less fortunate by helping the poor and donating food, clothes, or other useful items.

For me, Diwali is the most beautiful festival because it fills every home with joy, love, hope, and togetherness. The bright lights, family gatherings, prayers, and spirit of sharing make it an unforgettable celebration that everyone looks forward to every year.

19. There is more scope for adventure today. Express your views either for or against this statement. (Word Limit: 300–350 words)

FOR THE STATEMENT

There Is More Scope for Adventure Today.

Adventure is an exciting part of life that helps people explore new places, face challenges, and build confidence. I strongly agree with the statement that there is more scope for adventure today than ever before. Modern technology, better transport, improved safety measures, and increased awareness have made adventurous activities more accessible to people of all ages.

One of the main reasons is the development of transportation. Travelling to mountains, forests, deserts, beaches, and even foreign countries has become easier and faster than before. Roads, railways, and air travel have connected distant places, allowing people to explore locations that were once difficult to reach.

Adventure sports have also become very popular. Activities such as trekking, river rafting, rock climbing, scuba diving, paragliding, bungee jumping, and camping attract thousands of young people every year. Professional trainers and safety equipment have made these activities much safer than in the past. Many schools and colleges also organise adventure camps to encourage students to develop courage, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

Technology has further increased opportunities for adventure. Mobile phones, GPS, digital maps, weather forecasts, and emergency communication systems help travellers plan their journeys safely. Social media and travel websites inspire people by sharing photographs, videos, and experiences from different parts of the world.

Adventure is no longer limited to physical activities alone. Scientific expeditions, wildlife photography, cycling tours, sailing, space tourism, and underwater exploration have opened new areas of excitement. Even virtual reality allows people to experience adventurous environments and learn about distant places before visiting them.

However, adventure should always be combined with responsibility. Proper training, safety precautions, respect for nature, and guidance from experienced instructors are essential. Careless behaviour can turn an enjoyable adventure into a dangerous experience.

In conclusion, the modern world offers countless opportunities for adventure. Improved technology, better transport, organised adventure programmes, and greater public awareness have made exciting experiences available to more people than ever before. When enjoyed responsibly, adventure not only entertains us but also develops courage, confidence, and a spirit of exploration.

Glossary: Adventure : exciting and unusual experience / साहसिक अनुभव | Accessible : easy to reach or use / सुलभ | Trekking : long walk through hills or forests / पर्वतीय पदयात्रा | Scuba diving : underwater swimming using breathing equipment / स्कूबा डाइविंग | Paragliding : flying with a lightweight glider / पैराग्लाइडिंग | Expeditions : organised journeys for exploration / अभियान | Exploration : discovery of new places / अन्वेषण | Precautions : safety measures / सावधानियाँ | Leadership : ability to guide others / नेतृत्व | Responsibility : duty to act carefully / जिम्मेदारी

AGAINST THE STATEMENT

There Is Not More Scope for Adventure Today.

Many people believe that modern life offers greater opportunities for adventure. However, I do not completely agree with this statement. Although new adventure sports and technologies have become available, several factors have reduced the true spirit of adventure. Modern life has become more controlled, comfortable, and dependent on technology, leaving less room for genuine exploration.

One of the main reasons is that many natural places are now crowded with tourists. Famous mountains, forests, rivers, and beaches have become commercial tourist destinations. Instead of exploring untouched nature, people often follow fixed routes with guides, hotels, and organised tour packages. This reduces the excitement of discovering something new.

Another reason is the increasing dependence on technology. GPS navigation, mobile phones, online bookings, and digital maps guide travellers at every step. While these inventions improve safety, they also reduce the uncertainty and challenge that made adventures exciting in the past. Earlier, travellers depended on their observation, courage, and local knowledge to complete difficult journeys.

Safety rules and government restrictions have also limited many adventurous activities. Certain forests, wildlife areas, mountains, and border regions cannot be visited freely because of environmental protection or security concerns. These restrictions are necessary, but they reduce opportunities for independent adventure.

Modern lifestyles also leave little time for adventurous activities. Students remain busy with studies, coaching classes, and examinations, while adults are occupied with their jobs and family responsibilities. As a result, many people prefer comfortable holidays instead of challenging adventures.

Moreover, some people confuse risky behaviour with adventure. Performing dangerous stunts without proper training only increases accidents and should never be encouraged. True adventure should promote learning, courage, and respect for nature rather than unnecessary risk.

In conclusion, although adventure activities are available today, the real scope for genuine adventure has not increased as much as it appears. Dependence on technology, commercial tourism, strict regulations, and busy lifestyles have reduced the spirit of true exploration. Adventure should be meaningful, responsible, and based on curiosity rather than excitement alone.

Glossary: Commercial : intended for business or profit / व्यावसायिक | Exploration : discovery of unknown places / अन्वेषण | Dependence : relying too much on something / निर्भरता | Uncertainty : not knowing what may happen / अनिश्चितता | Restrictions : official limits or rules / प्रतिबंध | Observation : careful watching / अवलोकन | Regulations : official rules / नियम | Curiosity : desire to know or learn / जिज्ञासा | Genuine : real and authentic / वास्तविक | Independent : free to act on one's own / स्वतंत्र

20. Describe a day in the life of a gig worker who delivers food.
(Word Limit: 300–350 words)

A Day in the Life of a Food Delivery Worker

A food delivery worker is one of the busiest people in today's fast-paced world. Every day, thousands of people order food online, and delivery workers ensure that these orders reach customers on time. Although their work often goes unnoticed, they play an important role in making our lives convenient. A day in the life of a food delivery worker is full of hard work, challenges, and determination.

The day usually begins early in the morning. After checking the condition of the motorcycle or bicycle and ensuring that the mobile phone is fully charged, the delivery worker logs into the delivery app and waits for the first order. As soon as an order appears, the worker quickly rides to the restaurant, collects the food, checks the order carefully, and starts the journey to the customer's location.

Throughout the day, the delivery worker travels through busy roads, traffic jams, and crowded streets. Sometimes the weather is extremely hot, while at other times heavy rain or cold winds make the job even more difficult. Despite these challenges, the worker tries to deliver every order within the expected time because punctuality affects customer satisfaction and earnings.

The job also requires patience and good communication skills. Some customers welcome the delivery worker politely and offer a smile or a glass of water. Others may become impatient if the order is delayed due to traffic or bad weather. The delivery worker must remain calm, respectful, and professional in every situation.

There are very few opportunities for proper rest. Lunch is often eaten quickly between deliveries, and long hours of riding can be physically tiring. Yet, the worker continues with dedication because every successful delivery contributes to the family's income.

At the end of the day, after completing many deliveries, the worker returns home tired but satisfied. The day's earnings depend on the number of deliveries completed, customer ratings, and incentives. Although the work is demanding, it teaches discipline, responsibility, time management, and perseverance.

A food delivery worker deserves our respect because this job requires honesty, patience, and hard work. The next time we receive a food delivery, we should remember the effort behind it and treat the delivery worker with kindness and gratitude.

Glossary: Gig worker : a person who works on short-term jobs through online platforms / गिग वर्कर | Convenient : making life easier / सुविधाजनक | Determination : strong will to succeed / दृढ़ संकल्प | Punctuality : being on time / समय की पाबंदी | Satisfaction : feeling of happiness or fulfilment / संतुष्टि | Communication : exchange of information / संचार | Professional : showing skill and responsibility at work / पेशेवर | Incentives : extra rewards for good work / प्रोत्साहन राशि | Perseverance : continued effort despite difficulties / दृढ़ता | Gratitude : thankfulness / कृतज्ञता
