TO A MOGRA FLOWER

TO A MOGRA FLOWER

Wow! You are gifted with a sweet and charming aroma,
Alas! I am cursed with a foul- odorous stigma!
Your celestial fragrance attracts Souls to you,
Alas! My insalubrious and selfish stink is greeted by few!

Wow! You are born to bind the hearts with your unique Aura,
You keep pouring on them peace and joy in a plethora!
Alas! My presence adulterates the pure pleasures of the ambience,
For, I am an ill-famous Antonym to your far reaching Eminence!

Thus, May your Tribe, by leaps and bounds, replenish,
May my ugly kind dwindle fast, and quickly diminish!
May your  so exceptional species swiftly abound all around,
May my roots be replaced with yours in the mundane ground!

May my wish be granted for a heavenly revival of the Earth,
May Eternal happiness perpetuate here with your August birth!

TO HELEN KELLER

TO HELEN KELLER

You did succumb to untimely Blindness, that ceased your Sight,
But, that could neither squeeze your vim, nor quiver your Insight!
That did bow helplessly, at last, before your firm and resolute Fight,
Bravo! You came out with flying colours as a steady Pole Star to light!

Your long struggle did personify a rare Paragon of aplomb and grit,
You dauntlessly and valiantly did, all hurdles, overcome and meet!
How aptly you did symbolize an undeterred determination,
How adeptly you defeated Defeat to attain finally Liberation!

You could visualize more even than the Most having their Eyes,
Ah! Your healthy Vision and noble Mission did fetch you the fit Prize!
Yes, astounding and astonishing was your die-hard battling Attitude,
Oh! The whole World marvels at your mesmerizing Feats’ Magnitude!

You truly taught all, “Eyes matter little for a man of Foresight and Vision,
Eyes can view what is only visible, but, Vision, what lies past the Horizon!”

YES, WOMEN CAN HEAVE SIGHS OF RELIEF ON EARTH, AMEN!

YES, WOMEN CAN HEAVE SIGHS OF RELIEF ON EARTH, AMEN!

I do write enlightening volumes on the due Rights of the Women,
I do orate endless and sensitive speeches on their inevitable safety,
I do legislate foolproof Laws for their so long pending liberty,
I do blare before the loudspeakers to wane their atrocity strain!

I do go on frequent strikes for Women’s all round Progress,
I do publish articles for the quick uplift of their deprived Race,
I do I give Interviews to press my deep concerns in the Press
So that I can release them from violence, negligence and regress!

I do pen verses to extol the inimitably noble attributes of Women,
I do recite sweet songs glorifying the sublime qualities of women,
I do sing lyrics composed by many on the rarest roles of Women,
I do swear, vow, promise and take oaths in public to free Women!

I am sure, should I sincerely practise what I so earnestly preach,
Myriad unseen and broken Hearts of Women, I can heal and stitch,
Women can relish the ecstasy of Freedom, and the real Joy of Heaven,
I can make their days, and they can heave sighs of relief on Earth, Amen!

LET’S BAN THE REBIRTH OF POVERTY!

LET’S BAN THE REBIRTH OF POVERTY!

The Shark-like teeth of Poverty bite deeper
Than the fiercest fangs of a venomous Snake!
The unbearable pains of Poverty tastes acuter
Than the intolerable pangs of a poisonous intake!

Oh! In the parched and arid zone of Poverty
Are never sown the optimistic seeds of Joy!
Ah! A man, battered by the buffets of Poverty,
Seeks Mercy of the Rich Hands, as hapless Toy!

Ouch! The relentless Roller of Poverty,
Crushes all the pleasures of a man to powders negligible!
A Poverty-beaten man pants deliriously without any liberty,
Whilst Poverty mocks at him, and tosses him with ridicule!

Thus, let the painful roots of Poverty be vigorously snapped
From the wondrous and Heavenly garden of the Earth!
Let all sincere efforts be initiated, encouraged and clapped,
So that we can ban unopposed ever Poverty’s Rebirth!

INDEED, WE ARE THANKFUL TO MANY!

INDEED, WE ARE THANKFUL TO MANY!

To satisfy our hunger, the food, we eat,
Were cultivated, grown and reaped by many!
To quench our thirst, the water, , we drink,
Was dug out of the Earth’s bowel by many!

To maintain our decency, the clothes,  we put on,
Were the outcomes of a process involved by many!
To keep us safe from hostilities, the houses, we live in,
Were erected by the collective sweats of many!

To remain hale and hearty, the medicines, we take,
Were discovered, and endeavoured by many!
For knowledge and well-being, the books, we peruse,
Were written, printed and designed by many!

The much sought after Freedom we relish and enjoy,
Were the fruits of the endless sacrifices of many!
The vehicles we, as swift  as air, drive, sail and fly by,
Were invented, engineered and manufactured by many!

Indeed, we are owed to the unseen and unsung heroes many,
In respect of Yens, Pounds, dollars, Rupees or many a Penny,
For their unspeakable and unthinkable contributions for us,
In million ways to make our lives happy, cozy and delicious!

Still, can we forget our  next to Godlike Parents,
Who have selflessly paid for us all the fees and rents?
Can we forget our Gurus, Guides, and Teachers,
Who have amazingly gifted us with our present features?

Still, our thankfulness will surely be incomplete,
If we are oblivious of the ever Merciful Almighty,
Who is the Supreme Master of all these generous Many,
Who has made them eligible, efficient and uniquely brainy!

A NEW YEAR WISH……..

A NEW YEAR WISH……..

O God! May pure Love replace hatred and rancour,
May its powerful grip the whole World conquer,
May it unmask its vicious and venomous adulterators,
May it jubilate on the perishing Graves of the Perpetrators!

O God! May pearly Peace replace violence rampant,
May it, in the long run, be the only indomitable Triumphant,
May violence be ostracized, and pushed into a deadly isolation,
May it fetch one and all, from all pangs, a lasting Liberation!

O God! May nectaric Humanity replace ugly inhumanity in society,
May sweet self-confidence be a substitute for fear, horror and anxiety,
May never hard work, honesty, trust and loyalty be sorely slapped,
May never Justice be badly gagged, or Innocence be sadly trapped!

O God! May all the above prevail in the World to bring Heaven down,
May everyone be blessed with sound health, wealth and a Rights’ Crown!

LET’S MAKE OUR PRECIOUS LIFE A PEERLESS CAMERA!

LET’S MAKE OUR PRECIOUS LIFE A PEERLESS CAMERA!

Let the  courteous Camera of our precious Life,
Be always focused only on the objects of relevance;
So that the sweet snaps of our ceaseless strife,
Bear a universal acceptance, importance and endurance!

Let the  invaluable Camera of our priceless Life,
Never be dragged towards the dark and blurred aspects;
Lest the irreversible snaps of our indefatigable strife,
Should ever lack the desired shines, values and respects!

Let the  ingenious Camera of our splendorous Life,
Be able to turn ordinary Negatives into extra-ordinary Positives!
Let it carry on its honest, resolute and persistent strife,
Until its sweaty endeavour, the world’s worthy recognition receives!

Let our peerless Camera of unique Life keep clicking laudable snaps,
Until its cells are exhausted, and its Vision Nature finally wraps!
Let the matchless snaps of our ultimate outcome,
Adorn, embellish , prettify and enrich Beauty’s everlasting Laps!

HAS A LADY EVER ENJOYED HER TRUE EMANCIPATION?

HAS A LADY EVER ENJOYED HER TRUE EMANCIPATION?

What Law in the world has unshackled and unchained me,
Which Law has lifted me to the ostensible Liberty’s Acme,
Where has Law really materialized my long cherished dream,
When has Law allowed me to flow as a free and fair Stream?

Am I not still everywhere a second Priority at birth,
Am I not to sacrifice a lion’s share from my hard earned Mirth,
Am I not to marry after standing before Myriad male choices,
Am I not very often gagged to suppress my legitimate Voices?

Am I not to lose my Surname with my Nuptial Tie,
Am I not a compromising Pan to my every Happiness fry,
Am I not subjected to all ill at ease male queries to reply,
Am I not born, under the irresistible male whims, to ever lie?

Am I not still whipped to show Mercy, being ever at others’ Mercy,
Am I not  dangling a hollow badge of Feminine Greatness and Courtesy,
Am I not still a dumb Puppet in the unshakable string of male domination,
Am I not still living in a mere Pseudo world of  the so-called Emancipation?

Acme – peak
Cherished - treasured
Mirth – delight

LET ME LIVE ON THE INNOCENCE FOOD OF CHILDHOOD!

LET ME LIVE ON THE INNOCENCE FOOD OF CHILDHOOD!

Alas! I am groping in the forgotten darkness,
To retrieve my lost, golden childhood,
To retain my pearly, pious ignorance,
That seems now to have eloped for good!

Alas! Like a restless and anxious fisherman,
To catch memory fishes, I am throwing the Nostalgia -Net,
In the ever running River of Time;
For, I have been ironically conscientious and judicious of late!

Alas! Now, I am panting and gasping in breathlessness,
To assemble the  oblivious beads of the past good Deeds,
To make a repentant Ring of Atonement to attain Solace,
For, in the Race of life, the Innocence of childhood succeeds!

Oh! May my devious Devil walk on the way of my missing childhood!
Yes, to relish Salvation, let me subsist ever on that lost Innocence Food!

TRUE LOVE IS A PERENNIAL STREAM……

TRUE LOVE IS A PERENNIAL STREAM……

No Swords of Obstacles are sharp enough,
To slice off the enduring Bond of True Love!
No Gales of Obstructions are powerful enough,
To  put out the unflickering Beacon of True Love!

No Humps of Impediments are tall enough,
To slow down the unstoppable Pace of True Love!
No Tempests of Bitterness are strong enough,
To tumble the unyielding Orchard of True Love!

No Winds of Adversity are cold enough,
To freeze the transparent Lake of True Love!
No Venom of Intrusion is effective enough,
To spoil the pious Milk of True Love!

Let, by no Negative Forces, the True Lovers ever shiver!
Let the perennial and sparkling Stream of True Love flow forever!

LISTEN!

LISTEN!

Listen! To hammer lightning fours to score quick fifties,
To haul towering sixes to complete swift centuries;
You must walk on to the life’s tough and swinging Crease,
Be braced up to breast the fiercest falls that Fate-bowlers release!

Listen! To gather life’s most coveted and tempting Pearls,
To embellish your necks with their shining curls;
You must dive bravely into life’s deepest and roughest Seas,
Venture until you bag them, and the hostile bottoms you reach!

Listen! To take the alluring snaps of the Earth from the far off Moon,
To turn your paltry, mortal life a unique and an immortal boon;
You must sincerely, honestly, diligently and tirelessly toil,
Persevere until you triumph, and burn steadily the midnight oil!

Listen! To pluck life’s sweet, soft and spellbinding Roses,
To gather, for their beauteous fragrance, hearty applauses;
You must be prepared to smile while their bleeding thorns kiss,
Ignore bitter adversity and absorb pungent pains to Success relish!

WHO CAN SUCK THE VENOM OF MY UNTOLD AGONY?

WHO CAN SUCK THE VENOM OF MY UNTOLD AGONY?

O God! Whose Pain-Cases are free enough,
To accommodate my petty Pebbles of Sorrow?
For whom am I trust-worthy enough,
So that an ounce of Reliance I can borrow?

O God! Whose Sponge-Masses of Smiles are dry enough,
To soak and absorb my floods of my bitter, unseen Tears?
Whose Orchards of Charity are wealthy enough,
So that I can be lent a few hunger mitigating, sweet Pears?

O God! Whose Heart- Beds are spacious enough,
To allow me a little room for a moment’s Solace?
Who is, like You, so much kind and close enough,
To ignore my frailties; hug me tight and embrace?

But, O God! Where is the need to expect anything from any?
For, who can, except You, suck the Venom of my untold Agony?

THE CALL OF CONSCIENCE

THE CALL OF CONSCIENCE

Yes, the Call of Conscience,
Is the greatest of all the Calls!
A man called by his Conscience,
Never in life ever stumbles or falls!

When calls one’s Conscience:
One’s Ethics is promptly at work,
One’s Scruple does never then lack,
And surges to the brim one’s Moral Science!

Heaven is not far off and inaccessible,
For those who attend to the Call of Conscience!
Hell is imminent for the fallen and fallible,
Who, with the ruinous diktat of the mind, ever dance!

May the sweet Call of Conscience be audible to all,
May man prove that he is definitely different from all!

Glossary:
Conscience - sense of right and wrong
Ethics - moral principles
Promptly - quickly
Far off and inaccessible – distant
Inaccessible - unreachable
Imminent - about to happen
Fallible – imperfect

LET ME BE ZEALOUS, NOT JEALOUS OF SHAKESPEARE’S GENIUS

LET ME BE ZEALOUS, NOT JEALOUS OF SHAKESPEARE’S GENIUS

If I unreasonably compare myself with Shakespeare,
And unnecessarily feel myself despondent and inferior,
Dejectedly think myself, near his illustrious halo, nowhere,
Downheartedly feel myself commonplace, him a gem rare,
Dismally begin to feel myself negligible; dolefully curse and lament,
Wha will be the inevitable and unavoidable outcome?
It will, in vain,  pain me more and more, dampen me and torment,
Will make me, consequently, sad, surly, sullen and glum……!

If, instead, I can rationally and sensibly ask myself:
“Why can’t you bake yourself a more delicious literary Cake,
If Shakespeare, five centuries  ago, could  so immaculately make,
Being zealous, drawing impetus from his  contemporary counterparts’ pelf
Could excel in his own inimitable Arts, giving up inferiority, pessimistic fears?”
“For, Ego-less eyes and Positive perusal do bless us with the last laugh and cheers”!

Glossary:
Zealous – enthusiastic
Despondent - hopeless
Dejectedly – unhappily
Illustrious - famous
Halo – bright and distinguished literary development
Downheartedly - in despair
Dismally - cheerlessly
Dolefully - unhappily
Lament - cry for
Dampen – dishearten
Surly, sullen and glum – sad and miserable
Rationally and sensibly – with logic
Pelf – here, literary genius
Inimitable – matchless
Pessimistic – unenthusiastic/ negative
Perusal - read-through

DESTINY AND DESTINATION

DESTINY AND DESTINATION

What is unforeseen, not preplanned and unavoidable,
What is beyond the control of human any,
What had been, what is and what will be inevitable,
Is pretty commonly considered “Destiny’!

What can be fancied, planned and controlled at will before,
What is called a predetermined Journey, to reach a desired station,
What is associated with the outcome bearing upon the endeavour,
Is a universally deemed perception as “Destination”!

To me, interrelated are the Destiny and Destination,
Part and parcel are the Destiny and Destination,
Inseparable are the Destiny and Destination,
Visibly invisible are the “Destiny and Destination”!

Let’s have a deep, subtle and Supra-mudane deliberation,
So that we can deduce an apter and more reasonable conclusion!

LET’S NEVER ABHOR A SINNER!

LET’S NEVER ABHOR A SINNER!

Ah! A Sinner carries on his leaning head the heaviest load,
He makes his sweet and rosy path a thorny and sore road,
He convulsively shivers his whole being even at a Summer noon,
Alas! He never witnesses in life a much coveted shining Full Moon!

Cursed thoroughly all through his ugly life is a Sinner,
Utterly rattled and disrupted is his subtle Self-Inner,
No costly detergent can make his soiled and sullied Heart cleaner,
In the noble life’s Race he is a crippled and vanquished Runner!

Still, an austere Atonement is the Key to regain the lost contentment,
It can surely redeem him from the rigid, grimy and grubby confinement!
Yes, “The ultimate Gate to Heaven is not blocked for anyone forever”,
He can materialize and relish again a Universally cherished Dream!

Yes, No one is a born Sinner, let’s never a sinner abhor, loathe, or hate,
Let our genuine Love turn a vile Sinner most Virtuous and fortunate,
Let our  kind Hug transform him and bless him with a Salvation’s Fate!
For, who’s been cent percent perfect from the cradle to the grave till date?

SACRIFICE

SACRIFICE

Oh! The alluring Aroma of Sacrifice does ever smell best,
The inviting Flavour of Sacrifice does ever lead the rest!
Though toughest, undeniably,  is the Test of Sacrifice,
Oh! The enticing Relish of the win Sacrifice is ever so nice!

The Gem of Sacrifice does beat even the costliest Stone,
The value of Sacrifice surpasses the worth of any other Throne!
Oh! Before its brightness blushes shyly even the brightest Sun,
Yes, unimaginable is its Price, and never payable by anyone!

The depth of Sacrifice is deeper even than that of the five Oceans,
It is as spontaneous and delicious as the benefic heavenly rains!
Lo! Love is the ultimate Paradise where Sacrifice ever resides,
All over the Universe, its Power ever steadily prevails and presides!

Yes, the unparallelled  paragons of Sacrifice  are Nature and parents,
One, who ever forgets them, sheds Seas of tears, and inexcusably repents!

TO MY FATHER ON HIS 43rd DEATH ANNIVERSARY

TO MY FATHER ON HIS 43rd DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Nana, had you been all along with me,
In the turbulent Sea of life, forlornly, I would not have to swim,
I would not have to walk in the alleys narrow, gloomy and grim,
Really, So sad and sorrowful would not have been my life’s Film!

Nana, had you not left me before I was barely two years,
I would not have to pass alone through so much deafening chaos,
I would not have been snowed under so much bitter adversity,
I would not have to exist like a negligible and pitiful  “Anonymity”!

Nana, had you not been neglectful of your health,
I would not have to miss in you the invaluable wealth,
I would not have to be a hapless, pitiable and playable “Puppet”,
I would not have to be blown helter skelter like a dry leaf’s “Fate”!

Nana, May I always be a good Man with your heavenly Blessings’ Rays!
Nana, My own sourest experiences teach me to humbly and earnestly pray:
“May no child in the world ever fall to Father bereavement’s painful Prey,
May all Fathers under the Sun keep making their dearest children’s days!”

He did not go for treatment after an iron nail got pinched into his feet, which got contaminated coming in contact with cow dung due to walking bare foot and working in the field, leading to his tragic end. He left behind him the poet's widowed mother, two elder brothers and an elder sister. The poet was youngest son. At that time he was about one and half years. Then started a traumatic and pathetic period for his family. The poet struggled almost 40 years to settled for which he remains indebted to God as well as his family members.

LET’S MAKE EVERY MOMENT MEMORABLE!

LET’S MAKE EVERY MOMENT MEMORABLE!

An infinite eon turns out to be a light, happy and relishing moment,
When appears the chaste and curing Love paramount and prominent,
When the elated aura is purified by Love’s sweet and salubrious scent,
That heals all groaning gashes, and fills every bleeding and dark dent!

A moment assumes to be a heavy, painful and unending Age,
When Love is lost and replaced by deceit, greed, spite and rage,
When Love is a misnomer, eclipsed by the dark shadow of lust,
When Love is nothing but infirm enough an iron bar, prone to rust!

The Milk of pure and lasting Love is a Panacea by nature,
That is indispensably nutritious for the long life of every creature,
That is the Elysian Essence of living on this short and transitory earth,
Without which destitute, dormant and dead-like is our invaluable Birth!

Let’s practise the Art to make every moment memorable by noble deeds
Distrust leads to hatred; Hatred suffocates live; while Love life breeds!

Glossary:
Eon – a very long period of time period
Chaste - pure
Elated aura - overjoyed atmosphere/surroundings
Groaning gashes - painful wounds
Dark dent – unseen injuries

REMEMBERING DR. B.R AMBEDKAR

REMEMBERING DR. B.R AMBEDKAR

Rising steadily like a blooming and lustrous Lotus,
Passing through the rigorous Tests and Ordeals of litmus,
Shining like the blistering noon Sun, the Diwakar,
Emerged an effulgent Star, called Dr. B.R Ambedkar!

Once a prey, in school, to the bitter caste discrimination,
He incredibly became India’s first Minister of Education!
From the humblest background, a strict and rustic disciplinarian,
Became the Architect of India’s Constitution, an astute Parliamentarian!

The founder of a new universal Religion called ‘Humanism’,
Was bold enough to merrily and joyously embrace ‘Buddhism’!
An ardent worshipper of hard-work, and a devotee of honest labour,
Ultimately, proved himself his mettle as an inimitable ‘Trend Setter’!

May a ray of his enviable and embellishing enlightenment light my path,
May my life improve a little better, the ever felling and deteriorating Earth!
Let me, like him, not pay any emphasis on the unimportant mundane mirth,
Let me lead a pure and pious life like him so as to book a Heavenly Berth!

N.B: BR Ambedkar, fondly called Baba Saheb, was born in a Dalit family during the colonial era of India. He grew up seeing the atrocities meted out to the Dalits, who were treated as untouchables and were ostracised. He later campaigned against the social discrimination against the Dalits and became the force behind the Dalit Buddhist Movement in India. Nearly half a million Dalits joined him in this movement and got converted to Navayana Buddhism or Neo-Buddhism, a re-interpreteation of Buddhism by Dr Ambedkar. His book, The Buddha and His Dhamma is the holy book of Navayana
and Dalit Buddhists. He died on December 6, 1956.

TEARFUL TRIBUTES TO JAYEE RAJGURU

TEARFUL TRIBUTES TO JAYEE RAJGURU

O the blessed and the booned son of Bira Harekrushnapur, Puri,
One of Utkal’s renowned intellectuals of the eighteenth century,
An eminent scholar, like your Grandfather, in Sanskrit,
A man of rare patriotism, sacrifice, loyalty and discreet,
A well-versed exponent of the Vedas, Puranas and Scriptures,
One of the ablest, cleverest and most talented administrators,
One of the adept chief Ministers, and dauntless soldiers,
One of the wisest and most astute guides and counsellors,
You richly adorned the Courts of the King Dibyasingha Deb –II,
And his son, Mukund Deb –II; what could have been done by few!

Not surrendering before and succumbing to the British subjugation,
Raising rebellious voices against their steep and unpayable taxation,
Inspiring the masses to fight for honour and the liberty of the kingdom,
You were the first among India’s Freedom fighters to hug Martyrdom!

Who else could have embraced the cruelest British way of Execution?
O Immortal Soul! With tearful tributes, salutes you the ever grateful Nation!

N.B: My village is 10 kms away from the village of Jayee Rajguru.More about the life history of Jayee Rajguru can be studied with the help of Google.
