LISTEN!
Listen! To hammer
lightning fours to score quick fifties,
To haul towering
sixes to complete swift centuries;
You must walk on
to the life’s tough and swinging Crease,
Be braced up to breast
the fiercest falls that Fate-bowlers release!
Listen! To gather
life’s most coveted and tempting Pearls,
To embellish your
necks with their shining curls;
You must dive
bravely into life’s deepest and roughest Seas,
Venture until you
bag them, and the hostile bottoms you reach!
Listen! To take
the alluring snaps of the Earth from the far off Moon,
To turn your paltry,
mortal life a unique and an immortal boon;
You must
sincerely, honestly, diligently and tirelessly toil,
Persevere until
you triumph, and burn steadily the midnight oil!
Listen! To pluck life’s
sweet, soft and spellbinding Roses,
To gather, for
their beauteous fragrance, hearty applauses;
You must be
prepared to smile while their bleeding thorns kiss,
Ignore bitter adversity
and absorb pungent pains to Success relish!
