TEARFUL TRIBUTES TO JAYEE RAJGURU

TEARFUL TRIBUTES TO JAYEE RAJGURU

O the blessed and the booned son of Bira Harekrushnapur, Puri,
One of Utkal’s renowned intellectuals of the eighteenth century,
An eminent scholar, like your Grandfather, in Sanskrit,
A man of rare patriotism, sacrifice, loyalty and discreet,
A well-versed exponent of the Vedas, Puranas and Scriptures,
One of the ablest, cleverest and most talented administrators,
One of the adept chief Ministers, and dauntless soldiers,
One of the wisest and most astute guides and counsellors,
You richly adorned the Courts of the King Dibyasingha Deb –II,
And his son, Mukund Deb –II; what could have been done by few!

Not surrendering before and succumbing to the British subjugation,
Raising rebellious voices against their steep and unpayable taxation,
Inspiring the masses to fight for honour and the liberty of the kingdom,
You were the first among India’s Freedom fighters to hug Martyrdom!

Who else could have embraced the cruelest British way of Execution?
O Immortal Soul! With tearful tributes, salutes you the ever grateful Nation!

N.B: My village is 10 kms away from the village of Jayee Rajguru.More about the life history of Jayee Rajguru can be studied with the help of Google.
