WHY WON'T YOU TODAY?

O my Dear! You will surely shed Oceans of bitter tears tomorrow,

Out of pinching pain, unbearable bereavement and gashing sorrow,

After you are confirmed by the doctors that I have already taken my very last breath;

What will but be unseen and unknown to me, so why won't you today for my faith?

O my Dear! You will surely exhaust your entire bank balance,

Out of your grand generosity in making arrangements for scrumptious dawat,

Publicity, and rich gifts to the pandits that my alien soul attains deliverance,

After I slumber forever, so why won't you spend a grain today for my living heart?

O my Dear! You will surely pen an elegy, sing my eulogy, ignore my sin and forgive me,

After I am cremated, to be mingled forever with a non-existence, in the scorching flame,

And float like a lonely cloud in the space,but alas, what will I gain then unless I can taste,

Once when alive, what's called love, care,

pity, mercy, praise, forgiveness and rest?

THE LANGUAGE OF MY HEART

O my Darling! I know not indeed, why do my restless and euphoric eyes,

A sky full of dreams, with a hidden rapture, none other than you, dream?

Why does this delirious Peacock of my mind dance like a leaping stream,

And make you a meek appeal, "May I be at your disposal forever, please?

O my Darling! My sullen lips are rapt to empty the language of my heavy heart,

When you are unthinkably and unbearably out of my reveling, rejoicing reach;

But, no sooner do you come close as a remote wave does smooch the beach,

Than it sprints fast like lightning to a land of merry oblivion as if to start a new part!

O my Darling! Legions of unspeakable thoughts live awake in my obsessive mind,

The more I suppress them, the more they obstinately fancy of none but you!

As they gradually grow stronger in my tranquil turmoil a Shakespeare in me I find,

And pen volumes in your adoration better than any other ardent weaver of words can sew!

Do rely, O my distant Ally! Nights and days I spend time with you in a silent hub,

What is rabidly hummed by the Votaries of Cupid as nothing but "Sweet Love!"

ହଜାରେ ସପନ କାହିଁକି କେଜାଣି

ତୁମ ପାଇଁ ଦେଖେ ଆଖି

ଅଜଣା ପୁଲକେ ନାଚେ ମନପକ୍ଷୀ

ହୃଦୟଟା ଦିଏ ବିକି।

ଓଠ ଚାହୁଁଥାଏ କହିବାକୁ କିଛି

ତୁମେ ଥିଲେ ପ୍ରିୟ ଦୂରେ

କହିପାରେ ନାହିଁ ସାଇତା କଥାକୁ

ତୁମକୁ ଦେଖିଲା ପରେ ।

ମନେ ଖେଳୁଥାଏ ଅସୁମାରୀ ଆଶା

ତୁମ କଥା ଭାବି ଭାବି

ଅକୁହା କଥାକୁ କଲମେ ସାଉଁଟେ

ପାଲଟିଯାଇ ମୁଁ କବି ।

ନିରବେ ନିରବେ ତୁମ ଭାବନାରେ

ପାହିଯାଏ ଦିନରାତି

ରହି ରହି ମୋତେ ହୃଦୟଟା କହେ

ଏଇ ବୋଧେ ମଧୁ ପ୍ରୀତି ।

ଭାରତୀ ରଥ, ବାଙ୍କୀ, କଟକ, ଓଡିଶା

THANK YOU CORONA.

Thank you Corona for coming to the world as a bitter curse and going as a sweet boon:
For, you have tortured man, past imagination, worse and harsher than a hired goon!
You have exposed Science; mocked at human helplessness; and taunted at his technology's advance,
You have forced him to love a self-hugged jail; brought his fastest life to stagnancy; and dictated him to dance!

You have chased man invisibly and pounced upon him like a terrible Tiger,
You have tied, gagged, stupefied and transfixed him with your shocking, elusive saunter!
You have taken away jobs; slapped him by hunger pang; and devastated the economy,
You have maimed and mutilated him beyond cure turning all his sunny dreams gloomy!

Nevertheless, you have proved for man no less than a beautiful blessing in disguise,
For, you have really forced him to be humble, hygienic, disciplined, ego-less and wise,
You have taught him not to mistake that money, machine and might can always conquer,
You have preached him to love and respect Nature; and accept wholeheartedly that God is greater,
You have opened his eyes to see the Miracles of the Almighty behind every phenomenon,
You have awakened his sleeping senses to thank Him for making him the greatest gift of His unique Creation!

SEEKING GOD'S GRACE AND BLESSINGS FOR VISHNU

O God! May You be kind enough to shower with profuse generosity,

Your Grace on Vishnu, on this auspicious day of his Sacred Thread Ceremony,

So that he leads a life of simplicity, humility, integrity, sanity and serenity,

And the Sky of his life remains ever clear, cloudless, bright and sunny!

O God! May You be pleased enough to pour with abundant magnanimity,

Your Blessings on Vishnu, on this auspicious day of his Sacred Thread Ceremony,

So that he loves truth, transparency, peace, duty, diligence and impartiality,

He saves Virtue wealth for the rainy days instead of gold, insurance or money!

O God! May You be compassionate enough to bestow with lavish benevolence,

Your favours on Vishnu, on this auspicious day of his Sacred Thread Ceremony,

So that he ever chooses in life nothing else but Abou Ben Adhem's noble company,

He loves humanity, lives for the mankind and makes out Immortality's Essence!

O God! These are the boons we seek from You for Vishnu with total submission,

And hope with obeisance that You will take them into Your kind Consideration!

O GOD! HOW CAN WE WHINE AT YOU?

O God! How can we whine at You, Who has brought me to a world of light,

Who has blessed us with beautiful parents, loving siblings and kind kinsmen,

Who has created the delightful days for us to sweat for breads, and to rest at night,

Who has gifted us with the four major seasons like the Summer, Winter and Rain!

O God! How can we whimper at You, because of Whom the Sun is hot at noon,

Because of Whom seems ever so serene, silvery and shining the Full Moon,

Because of Whom the sugar canes are born sweet, and the tamarinds taste too sour,

Because of Whom a million hearts smile gaily in the presence of a charming flower!

O God! How can we whinge against You, Whose Grace has engineered the Universe,

Whose Mercy ever spurs the towering waves of the fathomless seas to sprightly dance,

Whose Compassion compels the demons of calamities to desert the earth,

Whose Bounty is indispensable for all to relish birth's beauty, and life 's mirth!

MY BELOVED

Oh! My sweetiful beloved is unquestionably fairer than fairness,

Rosalind is outwitted in quick wit, resilience, beauty and faithfulness,

Cordelia is left much behind in candour, devotion, integrity and kindness,

And Portia is overshadowed in presence of mind, intelligence and graciousness!

MY BELOVED

Oh! My beautiful beloved is shyer than the plant 'Touch Me Not',

Even in her deepest silence, she talks to me her sweet romantic tales a lot;

She binds me unshakably with her firmest strings of eternal Love,

She ever illuminates the darkest cells of my life brighter than Nature's Sun-bulb!

Oh! My sweetiful beloved is unquestionably fairer than fairness,

Rosalind is outwitted before her quick wit, resilience, beauty and faithfulness,

Cordelia is left much behind before her candour, devotion, integrity and kindness,

And Portia is overshadowed in her presence of mind, intelligence and graciousness!

Thus, my beloved is the costliest jewel embedded in the dazzling diadem of Love,

When she is around me the most intricate puzzles in the world seem simplest to solve!

Should all the Jasons of Love be gifted with such a beloved as my Medea,

Heavenly bodies shall descend to watch their play performed on earthly Love Stadia!

O MY MONALISA!

O my Monalisa! Alas! Without you, I am indeed a precarious pauper,

Turns stale and tasteless my hot and scrumptious supper,

The fragrance of the blooms of my bliss turns foul and odorous,

The mesmerizing music of showers fail to spur to dance my peacock joyous!

O my Monalisa! Alas! Without you, the main root of my hope soon withers,

The twins of doldrums and despondency cut off my enthusiasm bird's feathers,

The elation of my moony night gets darkened by an eclipse of insignificancy,

The bounding brook of my bouyancy meets abruptly with a river of sad stagnancy!

O my Monalisa! Alas! Without you, the shining sapphires turn shaggy, palid pebbles,

The scent of the sandalwoods seems too commonplace as that of the bland brambles,

The melodies of the koyels turn as drab, raucous and harsh as that of the crows,

The sunny days are replaced by the dark nights; and the sweetest smiles by sourest sorrows!

How can then I, O my Monalisa, think of an inconceivable separation from you,

For, how can the lonely oxygen of my life exude water without the inevitable H2?

AN ODE TO MY MAUDGONNE

O my Love! Flowers seem stale and faded before your charming cheeks,

The silvery Moon seems less enrapturing than your sugary, luscious lips,

Before your enchanting eyes, the ever wakeful Polestar seems as if It sleeps;

Oh! Nothing but a honey drop of your platonic love, your yearning Yeats seeks!

O my Love! The croons of the cuckoos coax me not more than your caressing calls,

The swishing and darkest braids of yours are more mesmerizing than the Victoria Falls,

Before your bliss raining bosoms, tantalize me not the Rainbow's tempting streaks;

Oh! Nothing but a heavenly hug of your amorous arms your yearning Yeats seeks!

O my Love! The pricking thorns turn kissing Roses at your sensuous, sweetiful glance,

A million miles means merely a few mili metres when you flaunt your love fragrance,

Before your snug company, the deepest Seas seem shallow, and lowest the highest peaks;

Oh! Nothing but a celestial slumber at your heart's cosiest cot your yearning Yeats seeks!
