PLEASE PLANT MORE TREES

PLEASE  PLANT MORE TREES

Please, do plant more and more trees
For the more cool and pure breeze
For the Nature’s more efficient fridge
For the timely rain water - the Elysian nectar
For the improvement in the current matter
For the Earth to relish, rejoice and glitter!

Please, do plant more and more trees
To build a green and verdant bridge
Between the Earth and the Heaven,
Oh! The angry glare of the Sun to lessen.
To replace the thick, festering smog
With pearly, silvery dew, mist and fog!

Please, do plant more and more trees
More colours to the mundane Eden garden to add
To watch the gambols of deer, bear and leopard
To view the joyous dance of the flowers with glees
To enjoy the lively feasts of the leaping, swaying fruits
To feel the faster  down-ward run of the long glad roots!

Please, do plant more and more trees
To elongate the buzzing of the busy bees
The safe levels of the huge seas to maintain
The songs of cuckoos and nightingales to enliven
To stop staking the Globe’s Eco-system on lease
To block the ways of calamities that ruin and seize!

Please, do plant more and more trees
For the more lasting laughters of the diligent peasants
Due to more yields of crops – a token of their due fees.
For the sweeter twitters, chirps, croons and chants
For the better and brighter tomorrows
With the exile of all miseries and sorrows!

Please, do plant more and more trees
To, the Solar System placate and please
To lengthen the breath of the Earth
To re-establish respite, laughter and mirth
To maintain the customary Nature’s cycle – a boon
To heave a sigh of universal relief and reprieve soon.

  1. Oh Shankar how wonderful is this ink .....you so gently encourage the planting of more and more trees....you provide valid scientific and botanical reasons for doing so in your own unique poetical manner which surprises us as you cover all the reasons why more trees should be planted.....they are the lungs of the earth.....they produce the very oxygen we need for our lives.....it is nothing less than miraculous.....this process could only have originated in the mind of divinity..... And you remind us of their necessity as we partake in the earth's fragile "eco-system which we lease"....yes.....we are lessees of this bounty but we act as though they are there for the taking with no thought given to the results of deforestation done with impunity .....but the mesmerizing words of their true purpose which is to "build a green and verdant bridge between heaven and earth".....oh, that imagery is exploding with meaning....and what a connection brimming with color, food, life nesting in their branches....trees .....our sisters need protection and more more more of them to cover the empty spaces of our mother's scalp.

  4. It is not just a call or a request.....
In a gentle way in a whispering tone.....you are.... Saying how fearful the earth would be !!!
    Every one likes gardens.....
    Outing means seeing nature.....
In villages people speed their mats and enjoy the....breeze.....
    But.......
The hams....in their possessive... tendency.....are having not one more concrete buildings....
Alas not knowing what they at losing in turn.......
But many such reminders..... may be of creating awareness....!!!
Always you are choosing a important.....social issue..... with your beautiful poetry.... Shankar
