Some live a life of the dead,
As energetic as a silhouette’s
shade,
A river without water,
A book without a letter..........!
Some live until they breathe their
last,
Until they are mingled in the dust,
Until their life's dusk,
Until they turn into a hollow
husk......!
But some live even long after
their demise,
For the entire humanity, remain a
‘priceless prize’,
Transcend the boundary of
Immortality,
And become synonyms for the
Eternity.........!
Would that I could live like the last,
Could breathe even after breathing
my last……!

A life of lethargy, laziness and lassitude...without any use and meaning to the individual and society is a waste. It is not how long one lived, buthow one lived is more important..'A lily of a day is fairer far in May... Ben Jonson's lines.. It is not growing like a tree
ReplyDeleteIn bulk, doth make man better be;
Or standing long an oak, three-hundred year,
To fall a log at last, dry, bald and sere.
A lily of a day,
Is fairer far in May,
Although it droop and die that night,
It was the plant and flow'r of light.
In small proportions we just beauties see;
And in short measures, life may perfect be.
So, it is better to live to our satisfaction and as well as others living around us in this world and leave an indelible imprint of our existence.

ReplyDeleteNice thought.
ReplyDeleteIn our Hindu belief it takes a soul to pass through several incarnations in the forms of different animals, insects, birds etc till one reaches the human form due to some good works in past lives. So human life is extremely precious. This idea is beautifully depicted in your poem which encourages to make ones life worthy for self satisfaction and universal good. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSome live till death & no-one remember there after. But many people live after death eg: A genuine (writer, a poet,an artist, a socialist, a leader,a shoulder etc) who has given a lot to the world & what has taken back is few expensive droplet from beautiful eyes while disappearing. It depends what short of life one has lived & how satisfactory it was. And as someone said what we believe in Hindu mythology is one live 7 life. Almighty has created us as human to do good to the World, let's do our best. Good luck. Keep writing
