LET’S ALL BE GRATEFUL TO GOD.
 
Let’s be grateful to God all,
Who’s ever been planning lest we should fall;
Lest we should ever be buffeted by a gusty gale
Lest we should be pushed into a murky abysmal well!
 
Let all be thankful to God, the ever merciful,
Who’s ever been alert to save us from many a deadly whirlpool
Who’s ever been making our days keeping us sound and cool
Who’s ever been warding off the devils who’re hell-bent to rule.
 
Let’s all be indebted to God with a candid loving heart,
Who’s ever been designing for us to play a praiseworthy part,
Who’s ever been awake so that we should not fall preys to UV rays
So that our life is blessed with and bestowed upon the May-days!
 
Let’s all be obliged to God with bended knees and deep obeisance
And beseech Him to make us eligible for a heavenly deliverance.

Stanza–wise Analysis of the Poem 

Stanza 1:
The poet urges everyone to feel grateful to God because He constantly protects human beings from dangers. God plans for our safety so that we may not fall into troubles. The “gusty gale” symbolizes sudden difficulties or hardships in life, while the “murky abysmal well” represents deep misfortune or moral downfall. Thus, the stanza emphasizes God’s unseen protection that saves us from both physical and spiritual dangers.

Stanza 2:
In this stanza, God is described as “ever merciful” and always alert to rescue human beings from serious dangers. The “deadly whirlpool” symbolizes complicated problems that can trap and destroy people. The poet also suggests that God keeps our lives peaceful and balanced (“sound and cool”). Moreover, God protects us from evil forces or “devils” that try to dominate human life. The stanza highlights divine mercy and protection against evil influences.

Stanza 3:
Here the poet says that humans should feel deeply indebted to God and love Him with sincerity. According to the poet, God has designed human life so that people may perform noble and praiseworthy deeds. God also remains watchful so that we do not fall victim to harmful forces like the “UV rays,” which symbolically represent dangers or destructive influences. Because of God’s care, our lives are filled with pleasant and happy “May-days,” meaning joyful and prosperous times.

Stanza 4:
In the final couplet, the poet calls upon everyone to express deep humility and devotion to God. “Bended knees” and “deep obeisance” symbolize sincere prayer and reverence. The poet urges people to pray to God so that they may become worthy of “heavenly deliverance,” meaning spiritual salvation or ultimate liberation. Thus, the poem concludes with a call for devotion, gratitude, and prayer to attain divine grace and salvation.
