THE SHOE MENDER

THE SHOE MENDER

Far away from the tangled World's complex caprice and care,
Sits the solitary Shoe Mender on a city's worn-bridge-ledge;
Whether it's a day like any other ordinary day, or a special fair,
From morn till night only on his honest toil he lays his eyes rare!

Throughout the year, without any rest, in the host Sun and the moist Rain,
Above the suffocating and nauseating stink of the muttering drain,
He, either mends one's a pair of sandals now,  or cleans another's shoes' stain then,
Nevertheless, unlike most millionaires, he sucks bliss honey from his sweat pain!

For, his heart, unlike his hands, is as  neat and transparent as Purity,
His thoughts are ever much past the mundane mean malignity,
His actions are never, like many of ours, despicable and duplicate,
Ah! Like a Lotus of the bogs, a content Silver, he does replicate!

Alas! Had the world been the slightest shadow of his magnanimity,
The mankind would not have to fight against  corruption, violence and poverty!

  2. Excellent poem describes and compares the qualities of a cobbler and others in our distorted society. Right words and comparison makes it beautiful. This describes the ability of the poet who can make a piece of ornament even from the ordinary. Appreciated ji.👍👌👏👏💐
