NEW YEAR

Yes, last year too, dropped in this New Year,
Replenished with some new hopes and new promises galore,
Replete with some new excitements and enthusiasms;
Ah! All blooming eyes were adorned with a million new dreams!

Yes, I have beheld those joyous and jubilant souls celebrating the New Year,
I have also seen many of them bleeding the whole year in poverty, disease and fear;
Still, striving hard to conceal the unnoticed wounds with caution and care,
Under the hoods of sham and superficial smiles in this kaleidoscopic fair!

Oh! My unblinking and vigilant eyes did gaze during the last New Year,
The atheists garlanding their stone carved gods and goddesses with pomp and fervour,
Decorating the Chauvinism pandals with LEDs, deafening DJ, diving into a wine river;
I did watch them gasping breathlessly inside the hollow shells of shallow happiness,
And, alas! I too found myself lost on the soft and colossal bosoms of emptiness!

If you can: do take a new oath on this New Year's Day, and see,
Do restrain your mistakes by the bridle of self continence and see,
Do check the unwanted trespassing of the heinous brutality, and see,
Do hum a hymn of eternal Love and see,
Do forgive the pestering kinsmen and see,
You will see peace will prevail, and amelioration will reign over pejoration,
And each new day will be a Happy New Year's grand and glorious celebration!
