  ପିଲାମାନେ, କୁହ l
  ପଚାରିଲେ ଦିନେ ଗୁରୁଜୀ ପିଲାଙ୍କୁ 
         ପାଠ କାହିଁ ପାଇଁ ପଢ?
    କିଏ କହେ ଆମେ ପାଠ ପଢୁଅଛୁ
           ହେବାକୁ ଜୀବନେ ବଡ I
    କିଏ କହେ ଆମେ ପାଠ ପଢୁଅଛୁ
           ହେବାପାଇଁ ଡାକତର
    ଆଉକିଏ କହେ ପାଠ ପଢୁ ଆମେ
          ହେବାକୁ ଈଞିନିୟର I

Oh! The eager teacher asked once,

"Why do you study, my dear students?

Replied some, "We want to be great in life

Being doctors or enginers in this stiff strife.
    କେକହେ ମାଷ୍ଟର କିଏ ବାରିଷ୍ଟର
                କିଏ ଚାଷୀ ସଇନିକ
    ଦେଶ ସେବାପାଇଁ ପାଠ ପଢୁ ଆମେ
      ଏହାହିଁ ଆମର ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ I
     ସବୁରି ମୁଖରୁ ଶୁଣି ତାଙ୍କ କଥା                                               
ମୁରୁକି ମୁରୁକି ହସି
  ଗୁରୁଜୀ କୁହନ୍ତି ପିଲାଙ୍କୁ ବୁଝାଇ
             ଆଜି ମୁଁ ଅନେକ ଖୁସି I

Some preferred to be teachers or barristers

Some others loved to be farmers or soldiers

To serve the country and fulfill their dreams;

The teacher's glad to hear so as the streams!
   ପାଠ ପଢି ତମେ ହେବ ଦିନେ ବଡ
        ଏଥିରେ ସନ୍ଦେହ ନାହିଁ
  ପାଠ ପଢା ପରେ ଆଜିର କଥାକୁ 
        କେବେହେଁ ଭୁଲିବ ନାହିଁ I
   ଆମ ଚାରିପଟେ ଅଛନ୍ତି ଅନେକ
     ଦୁଃଖି ରଙ୍କି ପରିବାର
    ଦୁଃଖ ଦୁର୍ଦଶାରେ ଅଭାବ ଭିତରେ
     ଜୀବନ ବିତେ ତାଙ୍କର I

Imposing credence in students' flair and prowess 

The teacher wished them all glory and success.

And exhorted them never to forget the suffering families around 

After education, and to devote themselves to keep them happy and sound.

     ଦୁସ୍ଥ ଅସହାୟ ଗରିବ ଜନଙ୍କ     
             ସେବାରେ ରଖିବ ଧ୍ୟାନ
  ଲୋଭ ମୋହ ମାୟା କ୍ଷମତା ପଛରେ
            ଦେବ ନାହିଁ କେବେ ମନ I
  
   ପାଠ ପଢାବେଳେ ସଭିଏଁ କହନ୍ତି 
          ଭଲ କାମ କରିବାକୁ
  ପଢା ସରିଗଲେ ଭୁଲିତ ଯାଆନ୍ତି
     କରିଥିବା ଶପଥକୁ I

    ଧନ ଦଉଲତ ପଛରେ ଗୋଡାଇ
                                           ବିତାଇ ଦିଅନ୍ତି ଦିନ
 ସେବା କଥା ଛାଡ ନେବାରେ ତାଙ୍କର
     ସବୁବେଳେ ଥାଏ ମନ
ଭଲକରି ବୁଝି ନିଅରେ ଶପଥ
       ପାଠ କାହିଁ ପାଇଁ ପଢ
      ସମାଜର ସେବା କରିବା ପାଇଁକି
       ପାଠ ପଢି ହୁଅ ବଡ I
