HOW CAN WE DESERVE TO BE CALLED THE TRUE CHRISTIANS?
O my Lord's children! What does true Christianity teach Its staunch followers?
"Passive resistance, patient sufferance and shunning of luxury, cruelty and chaos,
Self-sacrifice for the penance and redemption of the masses.
And, by rendering selfless services to the destitute and the downtrodden, the stiles for Salvation one surely surpasses!"
But, alas! How many Christians now believe in the Doctrines propagated by Lord Jesus?
How many of us adhere to the Father's shown path detached, devotional, perfumatory and pious?
How many of us bow humbly before the strict discipline, reformative criticism and universal compassion?
How many of us feel the real purpose of confession, and realize the value of His Crucifixion?
However, if we can abandon our unholy acquisitions, uncalled for enjoyments and addictions,
If we can share joy with the deprived; heal the diseased; relieve the distressed with our noble Missions,
If we can be the champions of charity; paragons of purity; symbols of sublimations; and emblems of emancipations,
We can deserve, without a token of suspicion, to be called His Children, the true Christians!

Dear Prof. Cijo Joseph Chennilil, my deep gratitude for yr analytical comment on my poem.
ReplyDeleteShankarji,
Your poem titled "How Can We Deserve To Be Called The True Christians?" is a poem that brings into the forefront the Christian ideals of compassion, mercy, humility, trust, faith, love, hope, simplicity, humbleness, pious attitude and unselfish mentality which are not taken on board in the lives of many Christians of today. The great message given out by Jesus Christ is redemption through suffering which is thrown to the dustbin by today's wayward and awkward Christians. The poem exhorts Christians to be worth of their cherished Christian principles so that their lives can be put back on the path of salvation and righteousness rather than on a road to perdition. The poem also makes it absolutely clear that everything is not lost for the Christians, still there are opportunities to make amendments to reclaim their true Christian heritage. The poem always hopes for the arrival of such a positive outcome for the Christian community in general.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of outstanding nature.
Cijo Joseph Chennelil.
