BUDDHA, THE LIGHT OF ASIA, IN A NUTSHELL
The Prince Siddhartha was drowned with all the coveted royal care, luxury and abundance,
Until he was unaware of the inseparable pangs of poverty, hunger, sorrow and sufferance!
Thus, his enviable palatial life could hardly tempt him to be glued to suck material merriment any longer,
For, his irresistible quest of the Truth and unquenchable thirst for Enlightenment grew steadily in him stronger!
Ah! The sights of a sick man, an old man, a funeral procession, and a monk on a roadside at last,
While at 25, he was being driven by his charioteer for hunting pleasurably fast,
Forced him to renounce the enjoyments of the palace, his beautiful wife and his only son,
And, so long as he was not blessed with the Enlightenment under a fig tree, he kept roaming on!
Hark! The sight of the sick man suddenly said to him, "All are, on earth, subject to disease!"
The spectacle of the old man whispered to him, "The wintry old age replaces the youth of the vernal breeze!"
He heard a mumble from the scene of the hearse, "The only undeniable fact of life is demise!"
And, the glimpse of the meditating monk murmured to him, "The detached ascetics are truly wise!"
Thus, Siddhartha shattered the mundane bonds rigid, unshakable and tight,
And, he came to be known the world over for his Enlightenment 'Buddha, Asia's Light!'
