O GOD! LET MY LIFE BE LIKE THINE.

O God! Let me never seek such abundance,

That is worse than emptiness and poverty;

Let me never run after such lush luxuriance,

Where peace is a reverie and barren property!

O God! Let me never own such a pair of eyes,

That is ever prone to viewing others' mistakes falls and misery;

Let me never nourish my brain to be so wise,

That can beat the best and the most dearly paid practitioners of perjury!

O God! Let me never possess such a heart,

That gambols in others' gloom, and is sullen at their prosperity and gaiety;

Let me never have such growth thick and fast,

That is devoid of empathy, sympathy, mercy, munificence, piety and pity! 

O God! Let my life be, like Thine, pure, pious, impartial, unbiased, bounteous and divine, 

Lest, unlike a guiding beacon, it should extinguish forever, before it does shine!
