Esha, my love for you asks for no social or legal recognitions,

It doesn't even demand an iota of your generous reciprocations;

For, it's not bred out of wanton attractions or licentious temptations,

It springs as the spontaneous showers or the Koyel's sweet vocal ejaculations!

Esha, my love for you never even wants your figment of imagination

To think of me or portray my picture out of softness or affection,

To warmly feel my sacred sensations or fondly draw my image,

To treasure my memories, or even adore my silhouette like that of a Sage!

Esha, my love for you never spurs you to ignore the call of your conscience,

To abandon, like the migratory birds, the haven of your luxury and happiness,

To bid an adieu to your life's Spring to opt for a hut exposed to heat, cold and rains,

To quit an imperial palace to wander like a gypsy now in a desert then in a jungle dense;

For, I love you not for any illusory pleasure, but only for Love's sake,

Not for any ephemeral attainment, but as a blissful Lily loves a peaceful Lake!

ଇଷା

ଇଷା, ତୁ ତ ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା ର ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ଜହ୍ନ

ତୁ ତ ଏକ ଚିରହରୀତ ମରୁ ଉଦ୍ୟାନ

ତୁ ତ ଘନ କୁଝଟିକା ରେ ଦୀପ୍ତିମାନ ତପନ

ତୁ ତ ନର୍ଦମା ରେ ଏକ ଅମୁଲ୍ୟ ସ୍ଵର୍ଣ!

ଇଷା, ସାଗର ବକ୍ଷେ ତୁ ଏକ ସୁମଧୁର ନିର୍ଝର

ଉତ୍ତପ୍ତ ମଦଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନେ ତୁ ତ ସୁଶୀତଳ କାକର

ତୁ ତ ବିରଳ ପାରିଜାତ ଏ ମର୍ତ୍ତ୍ୟର

ସତେ, ତୋ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗୀୟ ସାନିଧ୍ୟେ ଅମୃତମୟ ଏ ଉଦର!

ESHA

Esha, you are, indeed, the brightest Moon in the darkest sky,

You are an evergreen oasis in a desert bleak, sombre and dry,

You are the most radiant Sun in the thickest and dimmest fog,

Yes, you are the costliest glistening gold in the swampy bog!

Esha, you are the sweetest spring in the heart of the saltiest sea,

You are the soothing dew in the most ardent noon that swindles glee,

You are the rarest heavenly night jasmine upon this miry, mortal earth,

Yes, springs your touch, from dawn till dawn, a soulful of nectarous mirth!
