OH! THIS IS WHY THE WORLD CALLS GANDHIJI, 'MAHATMA'.
One morning, Gandhiji was busy spinning at his spinning wheel, focused and calm,
When he heard a gentle knock at the door of his humble and serene cottage;
He then said, "Whosoever knocks is allowed to come in with a welcome warm."
Soon, Gandhi's voice reached the man, like that of a composed Saint, or a wise Sage!
On meeting Gandhiji, the man bowed most humbly and uttered solemnly "Pranam!"
And sought his leave to ask a question to heal his hurt with the latter's reply balm!
Gandhiji voiced accessibly, "Of course, you can ask with the least hesitation or fear!"
"Except a Khadi Dhoti up to your knee, why are you naked?", "Are you really so poor?"
"No", my querying and eager Guest, replied Gandhiji, with a smiling but serious tone:
Say, can a Mother eat if her hungry children are unfed, or a Father sleep if malnourished, uneducated are his offspring forlorn?
Then, shedding unceasing tears Gandhiji said, "How can I, to cover me up, put on,
Till millions of my poverty stricken parents, brothers, sisters and kids have none?"
Finally, a chocking and quivering voice was wishpered by the gaping Guest:
"Oh! This is why, the world salutes You, dear Bapuji; and calls you Mahatma, the greatest!

ReplyDeleteShankarji,
Your poem titled "Oh! This is Why the World Calls Gandhiji 'Mahatma' " is a poem that narrates the greatness of this unparalleled and unprecedented personality emerging from this great nation of many vibrant vibrations.Gandhiji was a human being who put public interest above his personal interest.He was more concerned with his fellow human beings than himself.He followed the detachment or renunciation principle to serve the wider humanity around.He considered the entire universe as one family.He envisaged a world without barriers,boundaries and constraints.He wanted to build up a world adrift or bereft of biases,taboos,stigmas,inhibitions,discriminations,segregations,divisions and fragmentations.He never promoted hatred rather he propounded the ocean of love.In fact,Gandhiji can be termed as a human being having lived for others than himself,that is why we are proud to call him Mahatma because his life is subtly his message and he was someone who practised what he preached.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of outstanding pedigree on our dearest Father of the Nation.

Yes, it's the fact. But....
ReplyDeletePeople really know the things but still than they are not aware of the same, but when the same is picturised through the pen of a poet, it not only captivates the readers but also influenes them a lot activating their feelings and emotions. Mr. Mishra, you have done the same thing here in this composition with your magical effects on it which is really praise worthy. It's just superb....✌️✌️✌️
