The India is still a Hindu Nation as a result of the struggle of millions of people over a thousand years. 🚩🇮🇳🇮🇳

If he wasn't born in Odisha on this day of January 13, 1843 we Odias would be reading and speaking Bengali today. Fakir Mohan Senapati, a legend of Odisha was way ahead of his time. He was a writer, patriot, social reformer and a shrewd strategist rolled into one, who fought for the survival of Odia language which during his time was on verge of extinction.

Had he not been there, in all probability Bengali would have taken over Odia as the medium of teaching in the state where Odia is the mother tongue of the overwhelming majority. Many eminent, powerful Bengalis at the helm of affairs those days living in Cuttack led by one Anandilal Mitra made this fallacious proclamation - "ODIA EKTA SWATANTRA VASA NAYE, "Odia is not an independent language".

Fakir Mohan fought tooth and nail against this wrong notion. He strategized in order to achieve the goal of saving Odia language from total annihilation. First he started an printing press in Odia and published several books in his mother tongue. Odia survived as an language, thanks to his efforts and the likes of Sri Gourishankar Ray and Utkal Gouraba (The Pride of Odisha) Sri Madhusudan Das and the Das duo of Utkalamani (Jewel of Odisha) Sri Gopabandhu Das and Pandit Nilakantha Das.

Fakir Mohan's life was a story of personal tragedies and struggle. Born in the district of Balasore, he lost his parents at an early age. In abject poverty he worked as a laborer to finance and further his childhood education. A lanky man of small frame he suffered from multiple ailments. Tragedies struck him one after another as he lost his wife, remarried and lost his wife again. He went through bouts of alcoholism in order to cover up his frustrations with life.

He did several odd jobs to make a living - doing business is sea salt, working as an accountant and being DEWAAN (Prime Minister) of Vassals and Zamindaars (Landowners). Though never financially secure, it didn't stop him from writing some brilliant short stories - from serious ones like REBATI where a girl child's education was blamed for cholera deaths in her family to funny ones like PATENT MEDICINE, the story of a perpetually drunk servant. This play was later immortalized by its musical version made by the multitalented Akhshay Mohanty. Personally I was impressed by his short story DHULIA BABA (The Sand Shrouded Saint). In that epic story the writer has exposed the duplicacy of a BHANDA BABA (fake mendicant).

Fakir Mohan realized that Odia language can only be taken to the next level by popularizing and expanding its literature through various publications. His friend Gourishankar Ray published an Odia magazine named UTKAL DIPIKA (The Lamp of Odisha) for the first time on August 4, 1866. They left no stones unturned by reporting the failure of British administration to prevent and contain the great famine of 1865-66 when millions died from starvation.

Mr. Senapati irrespective of being weak and having a weakness for alcohol lived 75 years at a time when average human longevity was less than half of that. He loved Brandy and had a good number of English friends who supplied him with Foreign brands - a luxury those days. On one cold winter evening of 1866, when he was 23 years old, there was a hot discussion amongst drinking buddies inside the exclusive Station Club of Cuttack. They were pulling legs of E J Barton, the Assistant Collector of Khurda who was accused by a local woman of fathering his daughter. It was the outcome of an affair of an Englishman with a native girl in an age without contraceptives.

The folks believed her, for the little girl was looking like an English Mem with her sparkling blue eyes and reddish white skin - a genetic trait nowhere close to the generally dark complexioned local men. A Khurda man's progeny can't be our blue eyed boy. The case was eventually dismissed for the lack of evidence at a time when DNA test was strictly fantasy.

This news about the blue eyed girl came like a bolt from the blue on that blue, starry evening at the Club as gossip filled tongues kept wagging about the spicy incident in the milieu amongst the bland, mundane life of the government officials. The English ladies gossiped and giggled at the hot news as hot as their evening tea. This news was picked up by Utkal Dipika and was arguably the first tabloid scoop by an Odia magazine. It certainly helped increase its circulation. Nothing much has changed 150 years down the road. Spicy gossips sell well.

Fakir Mohan was smart and witty. While working as Dewan in Keonjhar he was kept under house arrest by mutineers. He was closely monitored, not allowed any communication to the outside world. He wrote a letter to one of his close friend - "Dear Bholanath Khamaria. Send me 100 betel and 100 betel nuts. Irrigate the sugarcane fields by watering from North. Otherwise, you will lose the entire field of crop".

The letter looked too innocuous to raise any kind of suspicion. His captors duly sent it to the intended addressee. Needless to say betel was the code for guns and nuts for bullets. The instruction was to attack from the north, lest the sugarcane field (the palace) will be destroyed. The recipient decoded wily Fakir Mohan's note and soon sent armed soldiers to rescue him.

Sad that the name a statesman of great stature now languishes in the dustbins of history, restricted only to a Government College in Balasore named after him. Hardly anyone remembers him these days. My thousands salute and tribute to the man for his service to the state of Odisha on his 179th Birthday.

His life finally ends up only by compromising for others' happiness.

If he goes out, then he's careless.

If he stays at home, then he's a lazy.

If he scolds children, then he's a monster.

If he doesn't scold, then he's a irresponsible guy.

If he stops wife from working, then he's an insecure guy.

If he doesn't stops wife from working, then he's somebody who lives on wife's earnings.

If he listens to mom, then he's mama's boy.

If he listens to wife, he's wife's slave.

Respect every male in your life. U will never know what he has sacrificed 4U.

*Students will be able to do other courses in between. The gross enrollment ratio in higher education will be 50 percent by 2035. At the same time, under the new education policy, if a student wants to do another course in the middle of a course, then he can do the second course by taking a break from the first course for a limited time.

*Many reforms have also been made in higher education. The reforms include graded academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc. Apart from this, e-courses will be started in regional languages. Virtual Labs will be developed. A National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) will be started. Please tell that there are 45 thousand colleges in the country.

The famous war of Umberkhind is mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records:

*"The 30,000 strong army of Kartalab Khan from Uzbekistan was defeated by mere 1000 mawalas of Shivaji. Not a single Uzbeki was left alive to return back home."*

Shivaji was a King of International fame. In the span of 30 years of his career he fought with only two Indian warriors. All the others were outsiders.

Shahista Khan, who feared Veer Shivaji even in his dreams was King of Abu Taliban and Turkistan.

Behlol Khan Pathan, Sikandar Pathan, Chidar Khan Pathan were all warrior sardars of Afghanistan. Diler Khan Pathan was the great warrior of Mangolia. All of them bit dust in front of Shivaji.

Sidhhi Jowhar and Salaba Khan were Iranian warriors, who got defeated by Shivaji.

Sidhhi Jowhar later planned a sea attack. In response Shivaji raised a navy, the first Indian Navy. But before accomplishing the task Shivaji left this world. (He was poisoned.)

Google *"Shivaji, the Management Guru."* It's a full subject in Boston University.

We won't find record of such incidents in any of the textbooks. They glorify invaders maybe it is some one's vested interest and appeasement politics .

Vietnam defeated America after war that lasted for 20 long years. After the victory journalist asked the Vietnam president , "how the victory was achieved? How did Vietnam defeat a country like America"!?

The President answered," actually, to defeat the country like America was impossible. Yet, a legendary Warrior King's story gave me the confidence and valor to make it happen. The war strategy was planned from this inspiration and we executed it. We won!"_

A few years later the President passed away. He had asked to carve the following words at his resting place.

We can see these words at the President's Samadhi Sthal even now.

After a few years, the External affairs minister of Vietnam visited India. As per the scheduled programs, he was taken to the Red Fort and Gandhiji's Samadhi sthal and other places. But he asked where the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Samadhi Sthal was? The Indian official replied in astonishment that it is in Raigad, Maharashtra.

The ministers came to Raigad and paid respect at Veer Shivaji Maharaj's resting place. And then he took a handful of soil and deposited it with reverence in his bag. Watching this the journalists asked why he did that. He said, " this is the soil is of valour and victory where the great Shivaji Maharaj was born and grown up. I will mix this soil with Vietnam's as soon as I reach there. Let Vietnam have brave men like Shivaji Maharaj.

That year after years - that year before years

She was begotten to revive hopes and realize dreams

Nay! She killed her mother and married her father

2020! She made humanity quiver; and bled lavishly

Nations had ecchymosis but she made them become lesions

She denied humanity serenity, luminosity and reality

Feeding lives with discomfort, frustration and death

Tell 2020, she's hell to the destitute

Tell 2020, she's venom to the affluent

Tell her she's not paean but dirge

Though, our lips halt not for exaltations

2020 like a quark doctor gave us wrong medications

Our diaries will tell; our songs will tell

A fiery path we trod in her calendar-months

For each day pierced our hearts with dark-happenings

Tell 2020, she came - we saw - I conquered

I'm going to the next street called 2021

Wherein I shall find healing, restoration and resolution

I've picked my broken-self to embrace reality

इसलिए जो लोग बेरोजगारी और गरीबी की बात करते है वो जनसँख्या नियंत्रण कानून की मांग करें।

इसलिए मेरी मांग जनसंख्या नियंत्रण कानून सबसे पहले लागू किया जाये।

Answer must be a firm "No" from most of us! Now please read on.

Remembered in Japan, forgotten in India........

The day was 12 November, 1948. Tokyo Trials are going on in a huge garden house on the outskirts of Tokyo, the trial of fifty-five Japanese war criminals including Japan's then Prime Minister Tojo, after losing WWII.

Of these, twenty-eight people have been identified as Class-A (crimes against peace) war criminals. If proved, the only punishment is the "death penalty".

Eleven international judges from all over the world are announcing......"Guilty".... "Guilty"...... "Guilty"......... Suddenly one thundered, "Not Guilty!"

A silence came down in the hallway. Who was this lone dissenter?

His name was Radha Binod Pal a Judge from India.

Born in 1886 in the Kumbh of East Bengal, his mother made a living by taking care of a household and their cow. For feeding the cow, Radha used to take the cow to the land near a local primary school.

When the teacher taught in school, Radha used to listen from outside. One day the school inspector came to visit the school from the city. He asked some questions of the students after entering the class. Everyone was silent. Radha said from outside the classroom window.... "I know the answer to all your questions." And he answered all the questions one by one. Inspector said... "Wonderful!.. Which class do you read?"

The answer came, "... I do not read...I graze a cow."

Everyone was shocked to hear that. Calling the head teacher, the school inspector instructed the boy to take admission in school as well as provide some stipend.

This is how education of Radha Binod Pal started. Then after passing the school final with the highest number in the district, he was admitted to Presidency College. After taking M Sc. from the University of Calcutta, he studied law again and got the Doctorate title. In the context of choosing the opposite of two things he once said, "law and mathematics are not so different after all.”

Coming back again to the International Court of Tokyo.

In his convincing argument to the rest of the jurists he signified that the Allies, (winners of WWII), also violated the principles of restraint and neutrality of international law. In addition to ignoring Japan's surrender hints, they killed two hundred thousand innocent people using nuclear bombardment.

The judges were forced to drop many of the accused from Class-A to B, after seeing the logic written on twelve hundred thirty-two pages by Radha Binod Pal. These Class-B war criminals were saved by him from a sure death penalty. His verdict in the international court gave him and India a world-famous reputation.

Japan respects this great man. In 1966 Emperor Hirohito awarded him the highest civilian honor of the country, 'Kokko Kunsao'. Two busy roads in Tokyo and Kyotto have been named after him. His verdict has been included in the syllabus of law studies there. In front of the Supreme Court of Tokyo, his statue has been placed. In 2007, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his desire to meet his family members in Delhi and met his son.

Dr. Radha Binod Pal (27 January 1886 - 10 January 1967) name is remembered in the history of Japan. In Tokyo, Japan, he has a museum and a statue in Yasukuni shrine.

Japan University has a research center in his name. Because of his judgment on Japanese war criminals, Chinese people hate him.

He is the author of many books related to law. In India, almost nobody knows him and perhaps not even his neighbors know him! A hindi movie was made on him, Tokyo Trials, starring Irfan Khan but that movie never made headlines.

....just one of the many many underrated & unknown Indians.

0. At this juncture let me define what is meant by *corona warrior*. Cadre wise this goes by the following order (highest to lowest):

1. The _covid-19_ infected person himself/herself who had to struggle for life internally.

2. The treating doctors/physicians & supporting health workers, who had to work on a war footing.

3. The government or administration who worked out strategy & implement them at the ground level without any disruption of essential/emergency services.

4. Family members or near relations to the _corona-19_ infected persons who were assisting/assisted them in all possible ways taking all the pain & precautions at home.

5. The housewives who are/were overloaded with tasks like cooking, cleaning & miscellaneous domestic chores 24*7 a week in the absence of supporting persons/hands like homework servants.

6. The earning members of the family like casual labourers working in the unorganised sectors who had lost their job/salary/wages to support their dependent family members, remained stranded at their place of residence/rest on the site being unable to move to meet their near & dear ones.

7. The humanists who came to the rescue of these suffered people with timely donations & services.

8. The common men who were denied freedom in some form or other and were/are enforced to follow various social safety norms & guidelines to decimate/curb the spread of this deadly pandemic.

So more or less all of us are *corona warriors*. So let us observe this event as a social festival, as a systematically raised war against *corona virus*.

ଡାକୁ ଥିବି ମଲା ଯାଏ।

ତା ବୁକୁ ପାନୀୟ ବଞ୍ଚିବା କାରଣ
ଉତ୍ସ ଶାନ୍ତି ସନ୍ତୋଷ ର
ଜ୍ଵାଳା ଜଞ୍ଜାଳ ର ଦୁଃଖ ନୈରାଶର
ତା ପାଇଁ ପାଣିର ଗାର।

ଲୁହର ଧାର ।

ସେ ଲୁହରେ ଲୁଚି, ପ୍ରେମ ତ ରହିଛି
ବାତ୍ସଲ୍ୟ ମମତା
ରୂପ ତାହାର ।

ବାତ୍ସଲ୍ୟ ପ୍ରେମ ସେ ନୁହେଁ ଲୋ ଜନନୀ

ବୁଢାବୁଢୀ ମାନେ ପିଣ୍ଡାପରେ ବସି

କୁହନ୍ତି ଅଭୂଲା ସ୍ମୃତି

ଜେଜେ ମାଆ ପାଶେ ନାତି ବସିଅଛି

ଦେଖୁଅଛି ଭାବଭକ୍ତି।

କାଖରେ କଳସୀ ଧରି ବଧୂଟିଏ

ଘରେ ଯାଏ ତରତର

ଆକାଶରେ ରଡି ହୁଏ ଘଡଘଡି

ଲାଗୁଅଛି ବଡ଼ ଡର।

କୂଳବଧୂମାନେ ସଞ୍ଜବତୀ ଧରି

ଏରୁଣ୍ଡି ପାଶରେ ଆସି

ବଡ ଭକ୍ତି ଭରେ ମୁଣ୍ଡିଆ ମାରଇ

କେତେଯେ ଶୁଭ ମନାସି।

ବୁଢୀମାଆ ଆସି ଜାଳିଦେଇଗଲା

ଚଉରା ମୂଳରେ ଦୀପ

ଗାଆଁ ଦାଣ୍ଡ ଖାଲି ମହକି ଉଠୁଛି

କିସୁନ୍ଦର ବାସ୍ନା ଧୂପ।

ମନ୍ଦିର ପ୍ରାଙ୍ଗଣେ ଶଙ୍ଖଧ୍ବନୀ ହୁଏ

ବାଜିଲାଣି ଖୋଳତାଳ

ପିଲାମାନେ ସର୍ବେ ଘରକୁ ଆସନ୍ତି

ଛାଡିଦେଇ ତାଙ୍କ ଖେଳ।

ନଡ଼ିଆ ଗଛଟି ପବନେ ନାଚୁଛି

ସାଇଁସାଇଁ ଶବ୍ଦ କରି

କୃଷକ ପୁଅଟି ଘରକୁ ଫେରୁଛି

ହାତେ ଖଣ୍ଡେ ବାଡ଼ି ଧରି।

ଧିରେ ଧିରେ ସଞ୍ଜ ଗ୍ରାସ କରିଦେଲା

ଦିଶିଲାଣି ଅନ୍ଧକାର

ଏ ଶୁଭ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟାରେ ସଭିଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଏ
