CAN'T WE LOOK AT THE POOR AND THE NEEDY?
Can't we, at least, look at the poor and the needy:
While they stretch their staggering hands to our parking cars speedy,
While, with their anxious desires, they reach out to our bikes on gear steady,
While they spread their empty bowls to be filled with a morsel of our delicious goody?
Can't we, at least, cast a sensitive and sympathetic look at the needy and the poor:
While they beg for alms, in front of our doors, with tones more pitiable and lower,
While we drain our wealth extravagantly to fetch fleet luxuries, and buy false beauties,
While they are lightyears away from sound health, education and modern amenities!
Can't we, at least, look at the starved stomachs and the bare bodies of the needy and the poor,
While we dump our left over seasoned dishes into the garbage bins or the gutters, whichever near,
While we dole out money prodigally on wine, meat, canal entertainers and wanton addictions,
While they spend days and nights under the Stars' mockery, the Moon' grimaces, and glares Sun's!
Unless we can, at least, look at to mitigate the unbearable miseries of the needy b and the poor,
How can we expect God to look at ours, and free us from all sorts of maladies as our ultimate Saviour?
