SHOULD OLD-AGE BE CONSIDERED A SECOND CHILDHOOD?

SHOULD OLD-AGE BE CONSIDERED A SECOND CHILDHOOD?

Let's all with due seriousness ponder over and brood,

Whether old-age should be considered a second childhood!

For, the skin in childhood is as tender and shiny as the shiuli flowers,

While at old-age, it's as rough and repulsive as that of a glabrous rhinoceros!

The hair in childhood is as smooth and slick as the Nature's finest silk,

While at old-age, it's as coarse and  shaggy as jute, pale white like half boiled milk!

The eyes in childhood are clear, pure and unbiased like the water of a stream,

While at old-age, they sadly lack lustre, vision, and stop to visualise and dream!

The chubby cheeks in childhood are softer than softness, and sweeter than innocence,

While at old-age, they are as hollow as a burrow, and as wrinkled as dog-eared pages!

The lips in childhood are softer than velvet, and prettier than the smiling pink roses,

While at old-age, they are as ugly as apes, and as rugged as a mountain surface!

In childhood, the Sun of an amusing life merrily rises, while at old-age it forlornly sets,

In childhood, a life of heaven ascends, alas at old-age, to be gulped by hellish Death one pitiably awaits!

N.B. This poem tries to contradict Shakespeare's comparing the seventh stage of man with second childhood in the poem "All The World Is A Stage".
