TRANSLATED ENGLISH POEM "A HOLLOW AND LUSTRELESS LIFE"

A HOLLOW AND LUSTRELESS LIFE

Alas! My groping eyes’ve always been looking for you:
In the cawings of the rooks at early dawns
In the flickering evening Diyas near Goddess Vrindavati
In the thick darkness of the Moonless nights
In the clusters of the twinkling stars at the Full-Moon nights
In the silvery lights of the Moon at Kumar Purnima nights
In the tender touches of the gleaming dew drops of Winter
In the frolicking and revelling swings during Raja festival
In the Pucchi games on the village street
In the companies of mates celebrating Khudurukuni Osha
In the busy bazaars and markets all across the globe
In the Idols of gods and goddesses bedecked at home……!

Hark! Humans swarm everywhere during days.
At nights, under the glares of the electric lights
The tarred concrete roads glisten and shimmer;
Can the roads ever be forgotten under such circumstances?
However, here the devouring fire simmers now,
That leads to the extinction of the green valleys
Alas! Flowers have now ceased to blossom on the dry and arid soils…..

Thus slings and rocks a hollow and lustreless life
Like the carefree and detached nest of a weaver bird…..!
