THE PLIGHT OF TWO HAPLESS PARROTS

THE PLIGHT OF TWO HAPLESS PARROTS

O God! You alone know, what those heartless men procure,
Confining two innocent, harmless and free parrots to soddy cages -
The iron hells, obnoxious, torturous offensive and insecure,
Making them plumeless, homeless, servile and stagnant for ages,
Fettering them illegally and arbitrarily with an irrational temperament,
Divesting them forcibly from flapping beneath the Sun in merriment?

O God! You alone know why nobody pays a pitiful attention,
To the perdue pathos of a parrot couple imprisoned and sodden;
Who undergo rigorous pain sans any crime, calumny or treason,
Who pass through darkest days and bleakest nights without any reason!

O God! You alone know why the sadistic and apathetic man,
 Lacks empathy for the captives who skirl, scream and shriek anon,
Who shed seas of silent tears, whom a moment wriggles like an aeon;
For, they are the mutest species having no pluck or power to plead,
Very unlike the repugnant human beings, who, in the court, to mislead,
Generously bribe the voracious, vicious and discriminate Judges;
For, they have no black money hordes, or perverted political privileges,
To purchase and pocket the biased verdicts of the callous, owlish Jury,
To snatch and avail themselves of their freedom, which is now a revery!

O God! Thus, the only alternative left for them is to curse,
 And reconcile, with reluctance, to their poor, hapless lots!
