Soon after the sweltering summer
Comes flying the monsoon shower,
Infuses life in soil, trees and grass.
How merrily the jolly children do splash!
The dry arid Nature costumes green
As soon as descends the soothing rain.
Ah! All creatures do forget their acute thirst pains
Overflow pools, ponds, rivulets, rivers and drains.
Smile floats on every peasant’s face
All put on their water-proof glee dress.
All become alert, anxious about weather forecast
Thatch leakages are patched hurriedly and fast.
Nature enjoys frogs’trills and recitations
Peacocks rejoice with the symphony of rain.
We observe many festive celebrations
Oh! Heavy shower washes away earth’s stain.
Old and new pupils start for school
Some with reluctance; some with joy full.
For, some of them think It a Temple ; some, a jail
Alas! Tthe homesick ones watch out for the over bell.
Mushrooms bloom over human heads
Water soaks through poor, unsafe sheds
Greens and vegetables abundantly avail
Joy all over the earth does plentily prevail.
Sometimes Lord Indra’s excruciating missiles
Breed fright and cause untold havoc.
Floods, storms and cyclones snatch away smiles
Life turns dolorous in this bivouac!
Rain is, yet never ever unwanted or unwelcome
Albeit a bundle of fleeting terror and lasting charm.
Life hinges on it; thus earth survives
Its bounty is indeed an unpayable price!

Please forward this poem to all. Tq.
Beautiful description about arrival of rain. The changes that occur in nature, men, flora and fauna are remarkable. These are mixture of pain and pleasure, still rain is inevitable and essential. Wish you happy rainy days.

ReplyDeleteThe monsoon ushers in the rainy season in India which is given traditional welcome by the people. With the blowing of conchs, clanging of cymbals and cacophonous noise of joy rain is welcomed. It gives respite to the parched Earth and summer-struck people. Your poem hails this most important season in your typical style. Good
ReplyDeletePls send me sir voice
ReplyDeleteExquisite narrative on rain. Superbly worded.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful narrative on the rains and rainy season decorated with all the colours and shades to show the nature's tricky-gift for the earthlings once in a year somewhere and many times in somewhere else as it likes and wants. It's true people cannot ask or say 'No' to this gift. It's always Wah Wah for some and Awe for some. Nice thoughts and expressions.
ReplyDeleteActually, your poems are all celebrations of the situations and events as you take always a special care to create it accordingly in the specified times. Appreciated! ππππ
Anu, I am pasting your feedback of the poem on my blog with pleasure. God bless you. πΉ
ReplyDelete"Thank you so much uncle for sharing this masterpiece with me ✨.
It is one of the most beautiful poems about rainy season I have ever heard or read.During summer days, when I used to hear the sound of the thunders, I get super excited that we will be relieved from the heat for a few days.
Nowadays due to frequent rain, it quite uncomfortable because of such much moisture & humid in the surrounding .
But after reading this poem I feel how wrong I was, rainy season is the most beautiful season that comes once in a year but it's impact last for a long, without this season no one can even imagine their lives.
The 5th para of the poem beautifully describes about the school days.
when I used to pray that " Can't it rain today?
So that I could skip schoolπ.
How thoughtfully God has maintained the cycle of nature.
It's quite surprising but still so beautiful.
All the seasons are equally important but unlike rainy season none of the seasons have the ability to give a new birth to mother natureπ."
