MY TEACHER'S DAY GIFT TO LINGARAJ SIR
After the much awaited blithe daybreak
Scampered dark, revived a parched lake,
Emerged an effulgent, enlightening Star
In the Eastern Horizon, distant and too far
To scintillate a bleak and sombre desert
To shower knowledge, bliss and comfort!
It was the fluke of a withered, emaciated bud
Like me to have your soothing, revitalizing rays’ flood.
Ah! That helped the dormant wretch to resuscitate;
Imbued in the much needed sustenance to rejuvenate
To grow and ramify to a vigorous, gravid and blooming tree
With your divine and erudite pollination, magnanimous and free!
To pay you, the most expensive and luxurious guerdon
And the most coveted laurel seems ever scanty and insufficient!
No tongue can adore and assess your matchless contribution,
Your revitalizing effect, and grandeur magnificent,
Nothing can be galore befitting a recompense
For your charismatic feat in converting a hollow-sense,
A wild bramble into an astounding, amusing and aromatic Rose
To fountain wit-felicity fragrance, to be blessed with applause!
