*Exercises on noun phrases
 
1: Identify the noun phrase in each sentence.
 
1. The tired teacher stopped teaching.
2. The beautiful sunset faded slowly.
3. The students in the classroom were noisy.
4. The sound of the ocean was soothing.
5. The teacher gave the students a difficult assignment.
6. The smell of freshly baked cookies filled the air.

2. Pick out the Noun Phrases in the following sentences.

2. Identify the type of adverb phrase.

3. Pick out the Adverb Phrases in the following sentences.

4. No such luxuries were known in those days.
5. He replied in a very rude manner.

4. In the following sentences replace, wherever possible, the Adverb Phrases by single Adverbs of the same meaning:-

1. I must start in a short time.

3. He escaped with great skill.

4. He spoke in a loud voice.

5. They moved with great caution.

6. The storm blew with great violence 7. The rain fell without ceasing

8. He replied to my letter with great promptitude.

5. Replace the underlined adjectives by adjective phrases
 
1. I was given a responsible job.
2. The Principal raised some important issues.
3. Gold is a very valuable metal.
4. The atmosphere was gloomy.
5. The road was muddy.
6. It is difficult to write a humorous story.
7. My visit to Goa proved to be a pleasant experience.
