DEAR KUNTA BHAINA, THE VILLAGE SHALL MISS YOU FOR AGES!
Alas! The water of the village pond has sadly turned muddy by a flash flood of tear,
Ceaselessly shed by the bereaved villagers, for your untimely departure from the soil so dear,
To a heavenly abode, at the dawn of this early Spring, that instead of a Holi song,
Cries aloud a heartbreaking elegy, upon seeing you still, motionless and dumb flung!
O dear Kunta Bhaina, the cleanliness of the village will surely miss your patient perspiration,
The renovation of the village Temple will surely miss your devout and selfless contribution,
The school Teachers will surely miss your amicable and respectful association,
The Homeopathy Dispensary and Veterinary staff will surely miss your hospitality and mission,
The Telephone Exchange will surely miss your toils for its smooth and lasting function,
Your own business will surely miss your duty, sincerity, integrity and dedication,
The gaping locality with a gasping breath will surely miss your etiquette and soothing tone,
I will surely miss your Milk of kindness, generosity, fellow feelings and compassion,
For, "who else could gladly borrow in the 90s to lend me for our household needs or Examination?"
Yes, the village shall surely miss for ages your dedicated presence on all occasions,
And, thus gratefully prays to God to bless your Soul with 'Eternal Rest, Peace and Benedictions'!
N.B. Thank God I could rewrite the same poem today that was deleted from my blog yesterday due to some technical problem. I would like to thank Balkrishan Sir from Bangaluru and some other friends for inspiring me to try to rewrite the same poem after coming to know about the unexpected deletion of the poem that was composed yesterday as a tribute to Kunta Bhaina, an elderly cousin of my village, Tadas Ramahans Pur, P.S Chandan Pur, Dist. Puri, Odisha, India, a noble soul who unexpectedly breathed his last on 26th February, 2021.
