GOOD MORNING
Alas! How many burning and starving stomachs could be fed,
How many scorching, chilling and wetting heads could be under a protective shed,
How many bare, uncared and shamed bodies could be stopped from being naked!
Alas! How many dark rooms could be lighted; and illiterate brains be taught,
How many small, big and dreaded diseases, everywhere, coul be successfully fought,
How many mosquito nets, to prevent the murderer Malaria, could be bought,
How many ponds, tube wells could be dug, for a safe, quenching sip; and a hygienic draught!
Alas! How many malnutritioned, cultivated lands could be provided with natural manure,
How long could be the Spring's Reign; the irregular and scant Monsoon's tenure;
Had money not been wasted in a trillion cheap, unjudicious and destructive ways,
Had man ever felt that his surplus wealth could be generously used to make a few needy's days!

High thinking and your thoughts full of empathy for the needies in this land makes this poem great and I feel this will turn as an eye opener among people who are blessed with abundance .
ReplyDeleteThank you for a novel way of presenting the reality of this time.👍👌👏👏🌷
Good poem, if only money was used well we would not be having poor people.
