A TRIBUTE TO UTKAL GOURAB MADHUSUDAN DAS

A TRIBUTE TO UTKAL GOURAB MADHUSUDAN DAS

“Oh! What a rare fluke and buoyant pride
To pen down on the radiant Pride of Mother Utkal:
The Grand Old Man, so well-known far and wide
For his glorious, inimitable wit of a replete receptacle!”

O the proud Mother Utkal’s first Graduate Scion
The first dignified and enviable Barrister of the holy Land,
You were the Cynosure amongst many a million
You trode to enlighten, embellish and enrich Her sand!

O the common folks’  Madhu Babu, loving and darling
You are ever adorable for your political career sterling!
You did your best at your unique Inner Voice’s behest
To uplift the socio-economic-political state of the State.

O the commendable stalwart of Odia-English-Bengal literature
A trilinguist, you gave a clarion call to all Odias to wake and nurture
A staunch patriotism, perseverance and the costliest Self-esteem.
Yes, you were, all through your life, a leaping and agile Stream!

Above all, O the Mother Utkal’s a never inoblivious Son,
You were a guiding, dazzling Star, a bright, luminous Sun,
A social reformer, transformer and  visionary par excellence,
Mother Utkal would have lost Her much lustre in your absence!
