BETTER
Better, you swallow the pungent, peevish pain
Than causing the same to any other.
Better, you devour unwelcome, petulant unpeace
That may pacify your unyielding neighbour.
Better, you sip the poisonous, noxious Hemlock
Than inflicting on any other bitter botheration.
Better, you lick the rancorous, virulent venom
That may confer upon any other blithe elation.
Better, you drink huffy, irksome headache
Than spoiling any other’s stored serenity.
Better, you embrace intolerable separation
That may cause one’s much awaited unity.
Better, you acknowledge your sour, tart debacle
Than winning to demolish and devastate one’s life.
Better, you sacrifice your own honeyed recreation
That may pester and pierce in one like a knife.
Better, you suppress your much relieved laughter
Than being a reason for any other’s hot tears.
Better, be reluctantly ostracized and isolated
That may bring back one’s undeserving cheers.
