BELIEVE ME, YOU SHALL ETERNALLY LIE.

BELIEVE ME, YOU SHALL ETERNALLY LIE.

Life is full of solid senses and meanings
It is not, at all, a game of one innings;
Only to him a blissful contentment It brings
Who sanguinely and detachedly Its song sings!

Life is neither futile, nor even shallow or hollow
It is a bitter-sweet, but efficacious pill to swallow;
It is a long and limitless highway both high and low
It is a Moon, that is sometimes dark, still It does glow!

Your life is as relevant as your fellow, close  friend’s
Laugh at him never, if ever he falls or he ever bends;
Think not his life as a trifling Toy to rashly play with
Force him not to give up, nor spur him ever to quith!

Give always full respect to your own tongue
Lest you should forget it and commit a wrong;
Be loyal, kind and reliable to him who trusts you
Then only can you be One amongst the rare few!

Take not ever advantage of your friend’s simplicity
Cheating, pretence and betrayal fetch only futility;
Ah! Co-operation and compassion boost in life unity
Facing the crises with fortitude proves one’s maturity!

Lift the fallen, and serve the neglected and downtrodden
Triumph never comes in life abruptly, or all of a sudden;
Do learn to bear with your friend, and patiently pardon
Then all will love you, and in their life’s crown adorn!

Life is not stuffed with any baseless or useless matter
Make Its each passing and irretrievable moment better;
Ignore experiences, you have ever tasted, sour or bitter
You will certainly be, at last, than all others, greater!

You shall, like every living organism, one day or other die
However, remember, death is not your life’s only end;
Count not ever what you lost and what you gained
Believe me, you shall, after your departure, eternally lie!
N.B: This poem is inspired by H.W Longfellow’s “A Psalm of Life”.
*quith – quit/ give up [here used as an archaic/old English word]
