LET’S NOT CONNIVE AT OUR LACUNAS

LET’S NOT CONNIVE AT OUR LACUNAS

How much sweet and delectable an apple may be
If it is not edible, it is sure to decorate a dust bin.
How much strong, sturdy and robust one may be
One is the feeblest, if one commits an ignoble sin.

How much physical beauty one is bestowed with
One is still ugly unless it is alien to one’s actions.
How much name and fame one may have gained
It is futile unless one is devoid of compassions.

What much height one may ceaselessly scale or soar
One is still at the bottom unless hearts can’t be reached.
What enlightening and inspiring sermons one can preach
One is hollow and jejune, unless they can be practised.

Let’s not then cultivate what has no everlasting use
Let’s not connive at our lacunas, lest we should sob profuse!

NB: The plural form of lacuna is also lacunae
*lacuna – missing or absence of essence in something
* delectable - delicious
* jejune – immature, empty
