When trespasses stealthily an
unwelcome disease
All happiness, all of a sudden,
the new guest does seize.
Comes to an utter standstill the
whole family’s joy breeze
As gales of anxiety grip and buffet
badly the biped trees.
In case, the preliminary aids
fall too flat to aid
Starts ringing the alarm bell of
terrible red.
Efforts rush to control the fast
slipping matter
Ambulance runs, and money flows
like water.
Oh! Swallowing of the bitter, pungent
pills
Devouring of the giant,
detestable tablets
Ah! Normalcy of the patient’s
mind soon kills
Alas! Tension of the entire
family aggravates.
Ouch! The pinch of the piercing
injections
Doctors’ serpentine scribbling
prescriptions
The defeaning blares of the kind
cruel nurses
Appear no less abominable than
ugly curses.
Forced detachment, isolation and
seclusion
Pose as the only best, intrusive
companions,
Hospital into a noisy hermitage
does turn
Until safe recovery, reign
shivering tensions.
Choked waiting for myriad test
results continues
Breathless longing goes on for
doctors-rounds news
Apprehensive looks gape for the
hospital bills huge
Restless desire for early
relieved-discharge is profuse.
Yet, is a disease, so dreaded,
altogether a hell?
Do ask millions, who, to its
prey, inadvertently fell.
Yes. It has its own benefic,
benevolent tale
It hails to cure us, and keep us
pure and hale.
* benefic - favourable, kind
