TIPS FOR THEE TO BE TOP
Try and dost incessantly try
Sine bidding it good-bye;
Thou canst soar high in the sky
Or, like pebbles wilt dormant lie.
None hath touched the peak
Being sluggish, lethargic and sick;
Be ever inquisitive to seek and pick
To make thee a renowned Greek.
Grasp firmly thy rein of self-restraint
Make thy feats both rare and resplendent,
Vigil, nothing compels thee to have a dent
Or pricks thee from respiring salubrious scent.
Thou hast to march now many a mile
Thou hast to overcome many a stile;
Preserve thy patience, and energy pile
To blossom on thy lips a sweet smile.
N.B: Today’s poem was written as a piece of advice to my students. The title of the poem is taken from my 1st published English Grammar book “TIPS FOR THEE TO BE TOP in 2006.”
