ଓଡିଆ କବିତା "ହସ" / TRANSLATED ENGLISH POEM "LAUGHTER"
Oh! With their irresistible flavour, the dripping drops of honey
Can wake the dizziest eyes, and stir hungers of the richest tummies,
Can call, to resolve their disputes instantly, the deadliest enemies
And can entice the whole world to embrace their sweet company!
Oh! The bewitching beads of diamonds and rubies invaluable
That spontaneously spring from the lithe and spellbinding lips,
Can, in a tick, mitigate deep sorrows and heal maladies incurable
And can assuage the woes amassed on the course of life in heaps!
Oh! The snowy, blissful Jasmines bloomed on the lips golden
Can bring an abrupt end to the dryness of life’s doleful garden;
“Yes, laughter that can laugh away the eclipse of distress and dismay
Is alone well aware of its inscrutable relevance, the judicious folk say!”
N.B. – The above poem is the English version of an Odia poem written by Mr. Prasanna Kumar Mondal, Khorda, Odisha, India.
